Background

Heavenly Mandate is an ancient being whose original form predates humanity; she claims that humans were derived according to the form of beings like herself. For ages, she slept and repaired the worlds under her care, regarding the work as lonely and tedious. Fate was the only being of the same origin with whom she could communicate. 191 343

Her relationship with Fate became hostile when Fate pursued control and power. Heavenly Mandate later pursued Fate through the river of time for six hundred years, caught up with it a century before her return to Lin Ao, and fought it again in an ancient era. Both emerged severely weakened; Fate withdrew while Heavenly Mandate returned in a diminished, childlike state. 298 364
