Thinking of this, the gloomy middle-aged man Cleve couldn't help but smile.
"The Grayson Family, is it? Back then, you drove us out of the Bifu Continent and slaughtered my wife and children. Now, this blood feud will start with the revenge against your family's eldest young lady!"
Not long after, Cleve returned to his family and reported this news to their patriarch, Kaufman.
Upon hearing this, Kaufman was overjoyed and immediately arranged for Cleve and several other Highgods to continue tracking and monitoring Fanny, so as to gather enough intelligence for their upcoming operation.
Then, Kaufman quickly gathered his family members to discuss the subsequent revenge plan.
He was determined to make the Grayson Family pay the price!
The ancestral home of the Penya Family, like the Grayson Family where Fanny belonged, was once in Fenglan City on the Bifu Continent. Back then, their patriarch was also a powerhouse with the strength of an Asura, and during their peak, the family boasted over a dozen Seven-Star Fiends.
However, because they shared the same city with the Grayson Family, the two major families developed various conflicts over the years while competing for resources and prestige, which gradually evolved into a life-and-death blood feud over the long passage of time.
It had long since become impossible to tell who was right and who was wrong; they were all just trying to survive better.
Finally, one day, a great war broke out between the two families.
The Graysons found an opportunity to strike first, killing the head of the Penya Family with the force of a thunderbolt.
From then on, the Penya Family lost the protection of their strongest member, and the remaining Seven-Star Fiends of the family were either killed or forced to flee under the encirclement and suppression of the Grayson Family.
In the end, the members of the Penya Family on the Bifu Continent were almost completely wiped out, and not a single one of their Seven-Star Fiends survived!
The remaining branches of the Penya Family fled in panic to various parts of Hell, and one branch escaped to Lier City on the Kaluosha Continent.
As for these remnants of the Penya Family who had fled the Bifu Continent, the Grayson Family couldn't be bothered to hunt them down to the end, merely putting out the word that they would kill any they saw from then on.
Kaufman's branch was the one that had fled from the Bifu Continent to Lier City at that time.
Back then, Kaufman was only a Six-Star Fiend, but after a million years of tempering and cultivation, he finally reached the realm of a Seven-Star Fiend.
He was now the strongest member of the Penya Family, the only Seven-Star Fiend.
Under Kaufman's consolidation, the remnants of the Penya Family who had fled here managed to gain a foothold in Lier City after a long period of operation.
Currently, their family consisted of hundreds of thousands of ordinary members, over a thousand Highgods, dozens of Five-Star Fiends, ten Six-Star Fiends, and himself, the Seven-Star Fiend.
Even though they were nearly wiped out by the Grayson Family, this ancient family with a history of hundreds of millions of years still possessed some foundation.
Such family strength could barely be considered powerful in Hell, after all, they had a Seven-Star Fiend presiding over them.
The Penya Family, having fled to this place, never forgot their past humiliation. They dreamed of returning to Fenglan City to annihilate the Grayson Family and reclaim their former glory.
But the reality was that they could only hide in Lier City, barely clinging to life, not even daring to set foot in the Starry Fog Sea at will, let alone return to the Bifu Continent for revenge.
This humiliation and hatred could be said to be deeply ingrained in the heart of every member of the Penya Family.
Now that Cleve had coincidentally discovered Fanny, how could they let go of this excellent opportunity for revenge?
"I heard that this fellow Grayson dotes on Fanny the most, and since she dared to appear in Lier City without Highgod guards, she must be carrying protective treasures. Perhaps we can scheme something based on this..."
Kaufman thought to himself.
Subsequently, after some discussion, Kaufman decided to lead the team himself, with five Six-Star Fiends and a hundred Five-Star Fiends participating in this revenge operation.
Even so, he still felt it wasn't safe enough.
What if there were hidden powerhouses protecting her in the dark?
Kaufman had truly been beaten into fear and had to assume the worst-case scenario.
This way, even if the revenge didn't succeed, they could preserve the family's strength to the greatest extent.
"Then let's fabricate that Fanny is carrying a Sovereign's Might! I believe there will be Six or Seven-Star Fiends who can't resist taking a shot to test it. Even if no Seven-Star Fiends take action, it's good to have more Six-Star Fiends involved."
Kaufman then instructed his subordinates to secretly spread this news through the Quicksand Castle.
The message was:
"Fanny, the direct granddaughter of the Grayson Family, is carrying a Sovereign's Might, and there are no Six-Star Fiends or stronger powerhouses protecting her!"
Along with this message, Fanny's appearance and aura were also spread.
Under the secret promotion of the Penya Family, a piece of news regarding Sovereign's Might gradually circulated in the Quicksand Castle.
However, because of the 'excellent' reputation of the Quicksand Castle, many powerhouses dismissed it with disdain.
But there were also a few powerhouses who believed that there is no smoke without fire. Even if a newly ascended Highgod like Fanny didn't have a Sovereign's Might, she would certainly have plenty of other treasures and Inkstone. As long as they acted discreetly enough, they wouldn't have to worry about being retaliated against afterward, and they could make a killing.
Most of these powerhouses were Six-Star Fiends, and their level was the most awkward.
They were between Five-Star and Seven-Star; they could slaughter Five-Star Fiends and below at will, but they had no power to fight back against Seven-Star Fiends.
At the same time, the Inkstone they had accumulated wasn't much.
Therefore, they were the group most eager for Sovereign's Might and Inkstone.
As for those veteran Seven-Star Fiends, they didn't lack Inkstone, only Sovereign's Might.
But they had too many concerns. They still had lingering fears about the battle back then when Grayson slaughtered the many powerhouses of the Penya Family.
If it were confirmed that Fanny had a Sovereign's Might, they might take the risk, but anyone with a brain knew that this news was most likely deliberately spread by that insidious fellow Kaufman.
The authenticity of the news was truly hard to guarantee.
There weren't many Seven-Star Fiends in Lier City, fewer than ten in total, and among them were several old guys who had long since retired from the world; there were fewer than five still active today.
In such a small circle, the feud between Kaufman and the Grayson Family is no secret; it's just that those Six-Star Fiends aren't qualified to come into contact with such information.
How could those shrewd Seven-Star Fiends possibly risk their lives over baseless rumors and unverified news?
The intelligence says Fanny is just an ordinary Highgod, but who can prove it?
It also says Fanny isn't accompanied by any powerful guards, but again, who can prove that?
Kaufman is far from the only clever person in Lier City.
Only those Six-Star Fiends who are desperate for Sovereign's Might but too cowardly to risk their lives on the Planar Battlefield will be used as pawns.
Back home, Fanny has no idea she has already fallen into a crisis; she sees Simon has come out of seclusion and excitedly shows him the beautiful clothes she bought today.
Chapter 68: Author's Note on Launch
After more than a month, this book is finally going to be published!
I'd like to take this opportunity to have a chat with everyone.
Coiling Dragon is the first web novel I ever encountered, and it remains my favorite to this day.
I believe that the brothers and sisters who are still reading Coiling Dragon and its fan fiction are just like me—deeply in love with this classic work!
As a staunch fan of the original, I have read Coiling Dragon dozens of times, and in recent years, I've read many fan fictions as well, until I realized this year that good Coiling Dragon fan fiction seems to be getting rarer.
Thus, the idea sprouted to write my own, to share the Coiling Dragon World in my heart and explore it together with everyone.
This idea had been with me for a long time, but it wasn't until a certain day this April that I had a sudden spark of inspiration and typed out the first chapter, "Mutation."
And so, Simon's story officially began.
Initially, I was writing purely for the love of it; even if I hadn't signed a contract and had to write in total isolation, I would have finished this story to give my youth some closure.
But to my surprise, not long after I uploaded it, the editor Yexiao fished me out of the sea of books, giving me the chance to sign a contract.
This was something I truly hadn't expected at the start.
Thanks to Yexiao's appreciation, I have gained more motivation to write, as well as the opportunity to interact with more readers who love Coiling Dragon just as much as I do.
I sincerely thank Yexiao, as well as the lovely readers who have been voting for me all this time.
It is your support that allowed me to overcome my habit of being lazy every day.
Before I knew it, I had already written 160,000 words...
Of course, I must also thank Tomato, for he created such a classic work for us, giving us the chance to meet.
Although the book is now officially launched, Simon's story has only just begun.
The legend that belongs to him is only just pulling back its curtain.
I hope you lovely readers will continue to supervise and encourage me, and let us witness Simon's rise together.
Let him stand at the pinnacle of the Coiling Dragon World, truly free and unfettered, in our stead!
I welcome everyone to participate in discussions here. If there is anything written incorrectly, I welcome your criticism and corrections; as long as it aligns with the original work and makes sense, I will fix it when I see it.
There is much more I want to say, but the space for this note is limited, so I won't ramble on; we can chat more when there's another opportunity.
Now, let's talk business...
Everyone knows that the first subscription is very important for a book, especially for a newcomer like me.
So, I sincerely hope that those brothers and sisters who have the means will support me with a first subscription! It would be even better if you could click "Auto-Subscribe" as well~~
I also hope that readers on QQ Reading will come to Qidian to subscribe to this book~~
Thank you all~~
To repay the support of all you brothers and sisters, I will release five chapters at 00:10 tonight!
As someone writing web novels part-time, this burst of updates is the absolute best I can do...
I hope you brothers and sisters will be understanding, and I will have irregular bursts of updates later when I have the capacity.
Next, let's talk about the update schedule.
Except for today, the day of the launch, my updates will be fixed at 00:01 and 00:02.
This way, it's convenient for night owls to see the latest chapters early.
It also won't delay the reading for those who wake up early.
Alright, that's enough idle chatter.
From here on out, I will prove my sincerity with stable updates and exciting plot developments.
As for subscriptions and monthly tickets, I leave that to you, my brothers and sisters~~
I would also like to sacrifice two fellow authors here:
