Background

Xiao Yan was once a cultivation genius of the Xiao Clan, but an unknown mishap caused his Dou Qi to disappear. Unbeknownst to him, Yao Chen had awakened by absorbing his Dou Qi through the ring Xiao Yan carried and deliberately kept him at the third stage of Dou Qi to temper his character. 17 23 24

Qi Fei approached Xiao Yan during this period and offered to investigate his condition. After Yao Chen revealed himself, both Xiao Yan and Qi Fei became Yao Chen's disciples. 23 24

Qi Fei later identified Xiao Yan as the Dou Qi Continent's “Child of Luck,” explaining that his unusually intense fortune would draw opponents, opportunities, and major crises toward him.
