Those were some fine words. I'd like an explanation too... Kakashi looked at Naruto.
Mei Terumi blinked in surprise. "Why are you looking at him?"
"Aren't you their instructor?"
"I wish I'd never been an instructor in my life. This batch of students was such a handful. They were always causing trouble for no reason."
Kakashi was at a loss for words, so he simply stepped aside and let Naruto take over.
Naruto stated his demand outright. "Fight me. But let's get one thing straight first: no ninjutsu."
A bright smile blossomed across Mei Terumi's face. "Little guy, are you playing at being a ninja?"
Naruto charged at her. Mei Terumi opened her mouth and spat out a ball of water. Naruto blasted out an even larger one, pushing hers back.
Mei Terumi was surprised and got serious. She spat out a gigantic Water Dragon Bullet, but Naruto countered with an even bigger one and pushed it back.
Stunned, Mei Terumi gave it everything she had and used Lava Style: Acidic Mud Technique, spraying a wide area with sticky, highly corrosive acid.
Naruto used Wind Style: Great Breakthrough, creating a tornado-like gale that blew the acid back at her.
So much for agreeing not to use ninjutsu. The two of them seemed to be competing out of sheer stubbornness, hurling ninjutsu back and forth and leaving the nearby woods in ruins.
The others didn't dare approach. They could only watch from a distance.
"They've gotten this strong?"
Team 7 had always known Naruto was strong, but they had never known just how strong. Only now did they get a clear sense of it.
The pressure on Sasuke grew even greater, Sakura had all but given up hope, and Kakashi felt both pride and worry.
"Either of them... I couldn't beat."
