Background

True Monarch Spirit Control founded the sect more than fifty thousand years ago. Originally a rogue cultivator with three spirit roots, he obtained the ancient Spirit Control Canon and cultivation resources by chance, then eventually cultivated to the Spirit Transformation Realm and ascended to the Spirit Realm. 57

The sect survived a major crisis roughly twenty thousand years before the main story. Its two known Nascent Soul cultivators died during a Human–Barbarian war, prompting other factions to attempt annexation. A Nascent Soul Middle Stage cultivator then emerged from within the sect and defeated the invaders, preserving its lineage. 56

In the Qin Kingdom, the Spirit Control Sect became one of the five major powers alongside the Mystic Yang Sect, Tyrant Blade Villa, Purple Firmament Gate, and Seven Rosy Clouds Sect. It maintained a Nascent Soul cultivator at its head and was renowned throughout the kingdom for controlling insects and beasts in battle. 7 11

The sect's predecessors accumulated extensive records from their travels, personal biographies, and observations. Specialists organized this material into references on races, spirit beasts, insects, treasures, and regional knowledge; the Scripture Depository’s upper levels held increasingly valuable texts under stronger guards. 60 65

The sect has three foundational techniques, restricted to vetted successors who must pass successive assessments and have their ancestry thoroughly investigated. 57

The sect also preserves numerous transformation techniques. These generally require essence blood from the corresponding demonic beast, with higher cultivation requiring higher-grade blood. Successful practitioners can eventually transform into the relevant beast form and use its abilities. 58

Life-Bound Spirit Beasts

A spirit controller may possess one Life-Bound Spirit Beast, which can be a beast, bird, or insect. The bond requires a cultivation technique suited to spirit-beast control. 57 79

History

Rise in the Qin Kingdom

The Spirit Control Sect earned renown through its experts’ interventions against regional threats. Snow Spider Fairy slew the Core Formation leader of a group of evil cultivators more than a century before the main story, while Master Azure Python eliminated a Third-Rank Azure Wind Wolf that had plagued the Thousand Bamboo Mountain Range. 11

By the time of Shen Long’s entry, the sect was one of the Qin Kingdom’s five great powers. It conducted recruitment through sect assessments and drew applicants from cultivation clans seeking its protection and resources. 11 42 45

Shen Long’s Admission and Growth

Shen Long entered the sect after traveling to its Thousand Spirit Mountain Range headquarters. Master Azure Python was the sect master at the time, and the arriving disciples were formally presented on the new-disciple roster. 50

Shen Long’s achievements later strengthened the sect’s reputation. During the Human–Barbarian war, he killed five Golden Core cultivators in a single engagement, with his mutated spirit insect playing a decisive role. 227

The sect emerged from the war without losing a Nascent Soul cultivator, gained territory, and received major rewards intended to establish it as an example for other factions. 330 331

Ascendancy in the East Hua Cultivation World

Following the war, the Spirit Control Sect became the largest sect in the Qin Kingdom and possessed more Nascent Soul cultivators than any power across the nine surrounding countries. 336

The weakened Tyrant Blade Villa and Purple Firmament Gate later sought to merge into the Spirit Control Sect to preserve their lineages. Their absorption brought the sect more than twenty thousand additional disciples. 384 392

The sect expanded commercial ties by selling spirit insects, beasts, birds, and related resources. Its trade network helped accommodate new disciples and attracted cooperation from powers such as the Wang Clan of Begonia Valley. 392

Relocation and Realm-Wide Expansion

Sixty years after the prior period, the sect had relocated to the Golden Crow Grassland, renamed it the Spirit Control Grassland, and established Spirit Control City as its headquarters. It had more than one hundred thousand disciples and two Spirit Transmutation cultivators, making it the strongest sect in the Gan Yang Realm. 516

After leading figures ascended to the Lingxu Realm, the sect remained a Lower Realm power and a talent base for the Thousand Spirits Sect. Shen Long supplied it with resources intended to secure its prosperity for tens of thousands of years and established advancement standards through the Thousand Beast Tower. 725 726

The sect and the Sun and Moon Palace became the Gan Yang Realm’s two strongest factions. With support from the Thousand Spirits Sect, they developed secret realms, trade routes to other realms, and a network in which major forces across forty-eight realms recognized the Spirit Control Sect’s leadership. 861
