Background / History

Class D begins the school year as the lowest-ranked first-year class. Although several students are academically or physically capable, widespread tardiness, phone use, unauthorized conversations, and poor discipline leave the class with 0 private points after its first month. Chabashira Sae identifies 86 instances of tardiness or early departure, 365 instances of phone use in class, and 100 unauthorized conversations. 3

The class is initially divided by poor conduct and conflicting priorities. Yamauchi Haruki, Ike Kanji, and Sudo Ken—collectively known as the “Three Idiots”—are recurring sources of disorder, while Hirata Yosuke attempts to organize the class and improve its discipline. Class Culture

Class D is initially characterized by disorder, isolation, and resentment toward its low ranking. Students frequently refer to their placement as humiliating, while students from other classes openly dismiss them as defective. 2 3 5
