The corner of the classroom.
Watching the scene unfold before him, Kazuma Sakagami was visibly excited.
To be honest,
as an adult teacher,
he didn't really understand things like organizational structure either.
But seeing the students who weren't doing well academically acting as if they'd been injected with adrenaline, all calculating how to spend the 100,000 Private Points they'd get,
was something else.
After all,
they weren't bad students.
They just had plenty of room to improve.
Naturally, they had a better chance of earning the Improvement Award than the others.
This was a sight
Kazuma Sakagami had never seen in all his years of teaching.
Over the years,
he'd met plenty of strong people.
He'd also met people who could figure out some of the university's rules in just a few days.
But this was the first time he'd seen someone do what Prince Ganlongdao was doing.
Rather than do anything himself,
he was finding ways to motivate everyone else.
And so far,
it seemed to be working quite well.
The dissatisfaction he'd initially felt toward Prince Ganlongdao had faded quite a bit, but Sakagami was now starting to feel annoyed for another reason.
Prince Ganlongdao was great at everything.
He just wouldn't do his job!
Was getting them into Class A somehow bad for them?
Wasn't it all for the students' sake?
Was being a teacher easy for him?
No.
He had to do something, too.
He needed to find a way
to motivate Prince Ganlongdao!
Meanwhile,
after hearing what Prince Ganlongdao had said,
Kaneda pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and glanced at Dragon Garden with an amused smile.
"Sounds good to me. I think even Albert would be more suitable than him."
"..."
Dragon Garden stared coldly at Prince Ganlongdao.
He paid no attention to what Kaneda and the others were saying.
People like Kaneda
just needed a couple of beatings to stop acting crazy.
Prince Ganlongdao, on the other hand, had surprised him a little.
He'd thought Prince Ganlongdao was a hedonist who only cared about enjoying himself, yet he was using this sort of approach to motivate the class.
Heh.
Dragon Garden scoffed to himself.
He couldn't say Prince Ganlongdao's approach was useless!
He could only say
that this approach might indeed benefit the class more.
But
even without using this method,
Dragon Garden was just as confident he could lead the class to Class A all by himself.
Prince Ganlongdao's method was simply unnecessary.
Child's play~
"Then everyone agrees, right?"
Prince Ganlongdao looked over the students below.
Those who struggled academically could work toward the Improvement Award, while those who were good at studying could aim for class representative positions. Naturally, no one had any objections.
Even if some of the students in the middle were a little dissatisfied,
in the whole of Class C,
he'd already won over nearly everyone capable, so the rest couldn't really say anything.
The new system soon won unanimous approval.
But he still needed to reassure them.
Most importantly,
he needed to clearly define everyone's responsibilities.
"But you won't get those points for nothing."
Prince Ganlongdao paced back and forth at the lectern, looking over at Kaneda and the others as he said coldly,
"Since I'm the class leader, my responsibility is to get you all to graduate from Class A. You have to obey all my orders without question."
"If we fail to reach Class A in the end, you can come to me."
"However,"
he continued,
"if we run into problems with our studies, then that's on you, Kaneda, as the Study Representative! You also have a responsibility to help the others improve their grades."
"Huh? Hold on."
Kaneda slapped the desk, looking dumbfounded. "What are you talking about? How am I supposed to tutor this many people by myself?"
"Who said you had to tutor them yourself?"
Prince Ganlongdao shot him a glance.
"If you don't have enough people, go find some. Get the class representatives to help, for example. I'm giving you the authority to do that. I don't care how you do it. Whether you teach them yourself or get someone else to, I only care about the results!"
"If the class runs into problems because of our studies—for example, if someone gets expelled because of it in this Midterm Exam—then I'll hold you responsible!"
"Of course, if you don't think you can do it, you can still back out now."
"Well? What do you say?"
"I'll do it!"
Kaneda gritted his teeth.
There was no way he was going to willingly give up the benefits he'd just gotten.
Besides,
it was only tutoring people in their classes.
All he had to do was get the students who were good at studying to help those who weren't!
Whether he threw Prince Ganlongdao's name around to intimidate people or used some other method, that was up to Kaneda. Prince Ganlongdao only cared about the results.
Smack.
Prince Ganlongdao hit Kaneda on the head with another piece of chalk and said coldly,
"I didn't ask if you'd do it. There are plenty of people who would. Class C has no shortage of volunteers. I asked if you could handle it!"
"I can!"
"Good. You said it yourself."
Prince Ganlongdao nodded with satisfaction. "If you can't, don't blame me for being hard on you later."
"..."
Kaneda and Dragon Garden were both left dumbfounded.
What a bastard!
You were the one forcing him to say it!
But once words were spoken, they couldn't be taken back. Kaneda's face had turned red, but he couldn't back out now. Having given his assurance, he had to take responsibility.
As for Prince Ganlongdao?
He'd already made a promise.
He would take responsibility for getting everyone into Class A, too.
If he couldn't do it,
he could still make sure everyone in the class had a safety net.
If all else failed, he could send them off to sell weapons. It was a high-paying job that could support a family, at least.
As long as he'd made a promise,
wasn't playing word games,
and wasn't severely damaging his own interests,
Prince Ganlongdao had a good conscience and would keep his word.
"If there are problems with physical fitness, then that's on you, Dragon Garden. The same goes for everyone else. Anyone who takes points has to take on responsibility. Authority and responsibility must go hand in hand. Understood?"
"Understood!"
"Good."
Seeing that,
Prince Ganlongdao nodded with satisfaction and smiled.
"Sakagami, class is in session."
"Uh..."
Watching Prince Ganlongdao return to his seat, Kazuma Sakagami was at a loss for words.
Which of them was the teacher, anyway?
Still,
as long as it benefited the class,
Sakagami could put up with it.
Besides, the class had zero points now.
Go ahead and deduct some.
It was already this bad.
If he couldn't fight it, he might as well learn to enjoy it.
As soon as class ended,
Kaneda stood up with a disdainful smile.
"Dragon Garden, don't you think Albert would be more suited to the position of Sports Representative? If you know what's good for you, you'll step down on your own. Otherwise, don't blame us for being rough with you."
"..."
Dragon Garden shot Kaneda a cold look,
then got up, walked over, and punched him, pinning him to the floor and beating him.
"Bastard!"
As he blocked Dragon Garden's blows, resentment flashed in Kaneda's eyes.
"Dragon Garden, you animal! You skipped class for a whole month and dragged our class into this mess, and now you dare to hit me? Fuck you—ow, ow, stop hitting me! Stop it! Don't just stand there watching!"
Watching what was happening, Albert looked a little nervous.
"Boss."
"Prince Brother."
Ishizaki looked worried, too. "Is he going to be okay?"
"What could happen?"
Prince Ganlongdao said indifferently, watching Kaneda get pinned to the floor.
"You're free to take Kaneda's side or Dragon Garden's. Do whatever you want."
Kaneda and Dragon Garden
might not be the strongest, but they were definitely the two most ambitious people in the class.
How many people they could manage was a measure of their own ability.
Of course,
when the time was right,
Prince Ganlongdao would help Kaneda tilt things in his favor.
Otherwise,
it felt like Dragon Garden would kill Kaneda before long.
The harder they fought,
the more secure his position as leader would become.
"Stop, Dragon Garden."
Albert grabbed Dragon Garden by the shoulder, then said in a deep voice to Kaneda,
"Thank you for the offer, Kaneda. But I'm not interested in being Sports Representative. Dragon Garden should keep the position!"
Smack!
He hadn't finished speaking.
A sharp pain shot through his ankle.
Albert glanced at Dragon Garden, completely stunned by the kick.
What was that supposed to mean?
I'm helping you, and you hit me?
But—
Dragon Garden answered with another punch, while kicking Kaneda as he tried to get up and coldly watching Ishizaki as he moved to step in.
If he couldn't handle the crown prince,
couldn't he at least handle this bunch of guys?
Since he couldn't be the boss for now,
then he'd be second-in-command!
He'd beat this whole bunch into submission first.
