Background / History

Prince Ganlongdao comes from the Ganlongdao family, associated with a major Hokkaido yakuza organization whose overseas operations include mercenary warfare, assassination, arms dealing, human trafficking, organ harvesting, and high-end services. He was sent to war-torn areas of the Middle East as a child to gain experience. Upon returning to Japan, his family elders ordered him to conquer Advanced Nurturing High School as a condition for inheriting the family business. 1

He enters Class 1-C viewing most of his classmates as beneath his attention, initially identifying Ryuen Kakeru and Kaneda Satoru as the only students worth watching. On his first day, he awakens the Conqueror System and receives the main quest to become Class 1-C's leader. 1 2

Ganlongdao openly challenges Ryuen's claim over the class, defeats him, and uses a combination of force, intimidation, and political pressure to establish himself as the class boss. He later turns Class C's private-point reserves and internal resentment over Ryuen's absence into tools for consolidating his leadership. 6 7 12 31 32

Appearance

Ganlongdao is an exceptionally tall student, standing close to two meters. He is first seen lounging in the back row in a burgundy uniform, with his legs on the desk and a book covering his face. 1

  • Sword-like eyebrows and star-bright eyes. 4
  • Fair complexion described as resembling polished jade. 4
  • Nearly two heads taller than Kaneda. 7
  • His imposing stature contributes heavily to his intimidation tactics. 7 48

Personality

Ganlongdao is intensely arrogant, treating his rule over others as a natural fact rather than an ambition. He repeatedly frames leadership as his birthright and regards dominating the school as inevitable. 5 19 23

Although he readily uses violence and humiliation against those who resist him, he does not rely on physical strength alone. He recognizes that fear-based obedience can be unstable, especially with Ryuen, and instead uses isolation, incentives, public opinion, and shared interests to secure more durable control. 6 9 31 32

He values discipline and organizational structure, having learned in war zones that a coordinated group is more effective than a collection of strong individuals. His leadership system rewards improvement and assigns responsibilities, but leaves final authority concentrated in his hands. 7 38 39

Ganlongdao is also possessive and manipulative in intimate relationships, particularly toward Shiho Manabe. He pursues power, wealth, and women openly, judging people largely by their usefulness or appeal to him. 25 27 46
