"Lord Aier."
Once they were out of the city, Cain instantly transformed into his true Roc form, dozens of meters across. He lowered himself, allowing Aier and the others to climb onto his broad back.
"Let's go, Cain."
"Remember to keep your speed in check so they can keep up."
Seated in a pavilion formed from Cain's divine power, Aier waved a hand and instructed him.
Although Cain had become a High God by refining a Godhead, his true form was a flying magical beast, and he could fly faster than most High Gods.
Just as Aier and the others had expected, they encountered a band of bandits barely thirty miles from the city.
However, once the bandits had surrounded Aier's group, they all froze in shock.
What the hell?
Hadn't their informant said there were only two High Gods?
Why were there six High Gods now?
Even the Roc being used as a mount radiated the divine power of a High God.
And what did their own group have?
Three High Gods and more than a dozen Mid-Gods.
Which side was supposed to be the bandits?
"What is it? You've surrounded us, but you neither attack nor say anything. What's the meaning of this?"
Aier took a leisurely sip of wine, glanced at the bandits surrounding them, and asked calmly.
"My lord, we're a guard company waiting outside the city to be hired..."
"Some merchant caravans lose most of their guards after several battles. But since this place is far from the city, they can't find new demon guards right away. That's how we make our living."
"We saw that you didn't have many guards with you, so we came to offer our services."
"If you're willing to hire us, we'd be happy to escort you for a while."
