As the dismissal bell rang, the students all breathed a sigh of relief and fled the classroom as if escaping for their lives.
Victor and Robert immediately resumed their investigation.
Dark did not follow them. Instead, he went to the Hidden Place laboratory to check on the Prairie Elf's condition.
Professor Harvey had divided the Prairie Elf's treatment into three stages. They had only just completed the first stage, and they would need to wait until he recovered somewhat before beginning the ongoing treatment of the second stage.
However, the first stage had shown excellent results, with virtually every planned approach successfully realized.
If all three stages could be completed and the Prairie Elf's memories ultimately restored, Professor Harvey could be said to have conquered the problem of "amnesia"—a miracle in this era.
Dark observed carefully and asked patiently, learning a great deal as well.
At nine that evening, he arrived at the office and saw Victor and Robert reporting the results of their investigation to Professor Sylph.
The findings from this other line of investigation were largely consistent with what they had discovered before. This basically confirmed that the culprit behind the scenes possessed an ability such as transformation.
Or rather, there had to be someone in his group with such an ability. As the investigation progressed, it was easy to notice that the culprit appeared far too frequently for there to be only one person.
Unless he also possessed some kind of "clone" ability.
But that would be far too overpowered.
How could someone like that possibly remain unknown?
Unless he was a reclusive, long-lived race from Sky City, or some mysterious sea folk from the ocean.
In short, the investigation had temporarily reached an impasse. Moreover, both Dark and Victor needed to prepare for the Academy Championship
