The influx of Jack-o'-Lantern Axemen gave the empty classroom a little life. Dark stayed by the rear window, leaving himself an escape route. The Candy Bag in his hand glimmered faintly. DemiDevimon had once again lured the monsters over, but it didn't charge at Dark. Instead, it flew straight toward the opposite window and rolled through it in midair. The Jack-o'-Lantern Axemen chasing after it slammed into the window bars with a bang, half their bodies hanging out as they nearly fell. The ones behind them couldn't stop in time, either, and crashed into one another with a series of thuds. DemiDevimon flapped its wings outside the window and laughed back at them. But just as it began, one of the Jack-o'-Lantern Axemen swung its little wooden axe and hurled it with all its might! DemiDevimon shrieked and dodged in a panic, but the axe still grazed the tip of one wing. Tears streaming down its face, it didn't dare show off anymore. It kept its distance, dodging from side to side to draw the monsters' attention. Then the Red-Cap Goblins and the limbless zombies began squeezing in through the front door, too. With DemiDevimon out of reach, the monsters finally spotted Dark by the rear window and gradually changed targets. The Red-Cap Goblins were the quickest, moving nimbly as they shrieked and charged all at once.
The Jack-o'-Lantern Axemen and the zombies advanced in a fan-shaped formation, cornering Dark. "That should do it!" With the classroom packed full of monsters, Dark raised the Candy Bag. Like the Statue of Liberty lifting her torch, the Candy Bag erupted in brilliant light! The monsters, the walls, the floor, and the ceiling were all veiled in an ambiguous pink glow. Bathed in its light, every monster froze in place. Their incomplete brains
