Emma muttered things to that effect as she found a seat in the first row and took out her textbook to preview the lesson.

Dark glanced at Emma on the front right, his mind occupied with whether there were any Magic Cards that could alleviate his current predicament.

He wasn't asking to purge the Demon God Bloodline, just something that could absorb negative emotions or perhaps calm a person's mind.

Chapter 9: Dark Demon Accidentally Wanders into a Den of Devils

The professor for Magic Theory was Professor Kazel—an alchemy master with goblin ancestry!

In an era where magic technology was gradually replacing ancient alchemy, Professor Kazel's status was actually somewhat awkward.

However, this did not prevent him from being equally proficient in magic technology.

Professor Kazel did not lecture on overly profound knowledge during the first Magic Theory class. He simply introduced the students to some basic common knowledge regarding Magic Cards.

Magic Cards are divided into five major categories: Spirit Cards, Magic Cards, Item Cards, Field Cards, and Arcana Cards.

Beyond these, there are also God Cards and Mystery Cards!

God Cards are cards that possess the "power of gods."

Mystery Cards refer to "unknown cards"!

Professor Kazel focused mainly on Spirit Cards during this lesson.

Spirit Cards are Magic Cards capable of summoning Magic Spirits!

Spirit Cards primarily have seven data points.

1. True Name: Only by calling out the true name can one summon a Magic Spirit.

2. Level: Represented by the number of stars, ordinary summoning techniques can only summon one-star to four-star spirits; anything above four stars requires special promotion summoning techniques!

3. Race: There are fifteen races for Spirit Cards: Human, Demi-human, Dragon, Angel, Demon, Undead, Elemental, Fairy, Mechanical, Insect, Reptilian, Avian/Beast, Plant, Fish, and Phantom God!

4. Attribute: There are 20 attributes for Spirit Cards: Normal, Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel, Fairy, Light, and Shadow!

5. Magic Power: Magic Power serves as both health points and the energy used for finishing moves. Once Magic Power reaches 0, the Magic Spirit will disappear and cannot be summoned for a short time until the Magic Power is replenished.

6. Attack/Defense: The attack and defense capabilities of the spirit displayed in numerical values.

7. Finishing Move: The spirit's skill; releasing a skill consumes Magic Power. White cards have no skills, blue cards have one, purple cards have two, and orange cards have three.

To make the explanation more vivid, Professor Kazel took out a Spirit Card as a demonstration.

And right in front of the freshmen, he summoned a massive white python exhaling frigid, icy air!

That Reptilian, Ice-attribute four-star giant python gave the newly arrived freshmen, who knew nothing of reverence, a massive fright!

As Magic Theory concluded, the freshmen rushed out of the classroom as if liberated, heading toward the cafeteria in twos and threes.

For students of this age, the Magic Theory class was indeed a bit dull.

But Dark had listened very carefully!

In fact, even before the class ended, he had already seen the prompt: [Greed +1]!

And then he realized.

So-called greed was a yearning from the heart that transcended the ordinary!

His "yearning to alleviate his current predicament" was being treated as "greed"!

In other words.

If he wanted to purify himself through an Angel-type Spirit Card, he would have to craft it himself.

That was truly too difficult!

Carrying a trace of worry, Dark ate a simple yet not-so-simple lunch in the cafeteria, then returned to his bedroom to take a short nap to replenish his energy for the afternoon Magic Potion Class!

Because Diana had found a friend in Rose, she didn't come to pester him, which saved him a lot of trouble.

However, after sleeping for only half an hour, he suddenly felt a twitch in his heart and woke up with a start.

After him, Emma Mortis also entered the library.

Chapter 10 Dark Demon Sneers at Traps

"Is there a floor plan for the library?"

Dark took out his Sorting Card and injected magic power into it.

The Sorting Card sensed his thoughts and displayed the library's floor plan on its surface.

The Saint Marian Academy library only had one floor, but every bookshelf was terrifyingly tall.

The academy used physical separation, placing the most profound books on the highest levels.

Without the ability to fly, it was impossible to reach those profound books.

But Dark's Magic Spirit had wings—that was the advantage!

It was supposed to be a Magic Spirit that existed to replace the "owl," yet the vast majority of students' Magic Spirits lacked wings and couldn't fly, which was quite awkward.

Dark found the area marked "Magic Spirit" on the library floor plan and immediately headed over.

The difference between a Magic Spirit and a regular Magic Spirit is that they can exist outside of a Magic Card for a long time without consuming their master's mana.

Magic Spirits are different; no matter how powerful a Magic Spirit is, their existence has a time limit.

Once this time limit is exceeded, they begin to consume their own mana until it reaches zero, at which point they disappear.

Furthermore, the intelligence level of a Magic Spirit is 2, half a level lower than a Magic Spirit, placing them in the category of inferior golems.

Because the library was so massive, even with the floor plan for reference, it still took Dark nearly ten minutes to find the bookshelf labeled "Magic Spirit."

This entire bookshelf was filled with information related to Magic Spirits!

"Do I have to find it myself from here on out?"

Dark couldn't help but look up.

The bookshelf was so high he couldn't see the top.

He even wanted to describe this bookshelf as "towering into the clouds"!

He had no idea how many books were stored on this single shelf alone!

"How on earth am I supposed to find anything? Do I have to go back and ask the librarian again?"

"Am I really going to risk a +1 on my demerit record just to finish some homework?"

Dark decided he absolutely would not take that loss!
