Background / History
The Human Race was among the oldest races to enter the Dimension Battlefield. Though lacking the innate racial talents of stronger bloodlines, humans reproduced quickly, allowing them to build large populations, occupy extensive territories, and cultivate many experts. At their height, they held Ninety-Nine Great Cities and stood as the unquestioned first race among the Hundred Races 123.
The descent of the Heavenly Dao Golden Ranking turned this strength into a liability. Other races feared that humanity’s numerical advantage would be reinforced by Heavenly Dao Origin, so they collectively targeted the Human Race. Within fourteen years, relentless attacks reduced the Ninety-Nine Great Cities to ten and drove humanity from first place to ninetieth 123.
The race’s decline was also tied to the Chaos of Demons and Monsters. Human ancestors chose to remain in the Dimension Battlefield and fight invaders from Hell rather than enter the Immortal Gate and abandon the other cultivators. Their sacrifice prevented the battlefield from becoming Hell’s domain, but devastated humanity’s strongest generation and left it vulnerable to later attacks by other races 183 184.
During the First Hundred Races War, humanity was weakened further by internal traitors, including Wu Tongtian, who polluted the Nine Provinces Lantern Fire. Its remaining strength scattered, and the race survived only through the Core Ancient Cities granted by the Heavenly Dao 175 184.
Five thousand years before Lin Jiufeng’s arrival, human hope suffered another blow when the Twin Stars, Gu Baili and Longevity Heaven, were targeted. Amid internal dissent and external hunts, the Painted Skin Scholar suppressed opposition, slew more than a dozen Worldly Immortals from other races, and became humanity’s leader 234.
Traits
- Rapid reproduction — Humanity’s principal racial advantage; it historically allowed the race to replenish its population and cultivate large numbers of experts 123.
- Comparatively weaker innate foundation — Humans generally cannot match the racial talents or inborn strength of certain other races 123.
- Adaptability and resilience — Despite losing nearly all of its major cities and top experts, humanity repeatedly retained a foothold in the Dimension Battlefield 123 175.
- Human World connection — Ascension from the Human World is a major source of hope; Lin Jiufeng was the first human to ascend in five thousand years 164.
- Curse immunity among ascenders — Humans not born in the Dimension Battlefield are immune to the curse associated with humanity’s decline 234.
Settlements & Sacred Sites
- Ninety-Nine Great Cities — Humanity’s cities during its golden age; only ten survived the fourteen-year coordinated assault 123.
- Last Great City / Ancient Human City — The final city defended by Gu Baili and later the Painted Skin Scholar. By Lin Jiufeng’s arrival, it was populated again and accompanied by thirteen smaller cities along the mountain range 123 164.
- Core Ancient Cities — Ten cities awarded through the Heavenly Dao after the First Hundred Races War; they preserved humanity’s remaining hope and standing 175.
- Human Ancestral Land — A protected human stronghold containing the ancestral mountain range and the race’s accumulated books 224.
- Human Clan Ancestral Hall — The site where Longevity Heaven entered death-seclusion 232.
- Human ancestral shrine — A historical shrine tied to humanity’s ancestors and legends 230.
- Nine Provinces Lanterns — Artifacts created by human ancestors to preserve the Dimension Battlefield’s spiritual energy; the remaining Human Race lantern became a target of the Thirteen Clan Alliance 169.
- Nine Provinces Lantern Fire — A vital human inheritance once polluted by the traitor Wu Tongtian 184.

Major Conflicts
Assault on the Ninety-Nine Great Cities
The other major races attacked humanity from all directions after the Heavenly Dao Golden Ranking appeared. The campaign used ambushes, assassinations, sieges, city massacres, and territorial pressure, reducing humanity to ten cities in fourteen years 123.
Chaos of Demons and Monsters
Human ancestors fought the demons and monsters of Hell rather than flee through the Immortal Gate. Their victory protected the Dimension Battlefield’s cultivators but exhausted humanity’s top experts and laid the groundwork for its later decline 183 184.
Giant Race Campaign
The Giant King attempted to destroy humanity’s final city with ten thousand troops. Gu Baili annihilated the invading force at the cost of his life; when Giant Race elders retaliated, the Painted Skin Scholar killed one and drove the rest away 123 124.
Thirteen Clan Alliance Attack
The Skeleton Race, Yaksha Clan, Giant Race, and allied clans plotted humanity’s extermination. The Painted Skin Scholar’s defenses, Sword God Emperor Willow’s support, and Lin Jiufeng’s intervention broke the assault and devastated the alliance’s army 163 169 172 174.
Hundred Races War
Humanity’s place among the Hundred Races depended on its performance in the war. With only three participants, it entered as an underdog at ninety-ninth place; Lin Jiufeng later contributed 201 points, helping secure a top-hundred standing 175 185 208.
Conflict with the Heavenly God Race
Human experts attacked the ancestral land of the second-ranked Heavenly God Race, defeating its Feathered Immortals and taking resources to strengthen humanity. Lin Jiufeng later killed the Heavenly God Race Ancestor 287 288 302.
The Great Purge
When the Immortals announced a purge of the Hundred Races, Lin Jiufeng gave humanity three days to return before moving the entire Human Ancestral Land into his Inner Scenery Realm 316 318. The Human Race survived while the Immortals cleansed the Dimension Battlefield and annihilated numerous other races 318 319.
