Background
Hong spent his early childhood at the Huaxia Orphanage before being sold abroad at age ten and subjected to brutal assassin training. After surviving the initial eliminations, the Dark Hand recognized his talent and placed him in an overseas Xingyi Fist gym affiliated with the organization. Of the five Chinese-descended youths admitted alongside him, he was the most gifted, eventually becoming the gym master’s personal disciple. He returned to the Dark Hand at sixteen and began undertaking assassination missions. 9
While returning to the organization with a mysterious Ruins map fragment, Hong was ambushed at Anran Homestay by White Bear and Monkey of the Heavenly Kingdom Organization. He severely injured Monkey, outmaneuvered White Bear, and survived the battle with Teng Qingshan’s hidden intervention. Afterward, he introduced himself to Teng as “Hong,” the codename he preferred over his real name, Lu Hong. 6 7 8 9
Hong wished to leave the Dark Hand and study under Teng Qingshan, but hesitated because his former teacher’s family remained under the organization’s control and his teacher required expensive medical care. He chose a semi-freelance arrangement to gain greater freedom, then formally became Teng Qingshan’s first Xingyi Sect disciple after receiving guidance in Tiger Form Cannon Fist. 10 11
When Teng Qingshan established the Xingyi Sect, Hong handled the practical work of securing a venue and completing its registration. He later became the sect’s eldest senior brother, helping teach its growing body of disciples while continuing to pursue his own path through combat and cultivation. 26 77 147
