Background / History

Whitebeard was one of the Rocks Pirates’ foremost officers, regarded within the crew as second only to Rocks in combat standing. His rewards and authority exceeded those of the other commanders. 37

While serving Rocks, Whitebeard and Golden Lion Shiki privately anticipated eventually leaving to establish their own crews. Both recognized Luo Tian as a valuable future recruit, though Rocks’ strength and ambition prevented any open break at the time. 12

During the raid on the Heavenly Tribute, Whitebeard was assigned to smash through the Navy’s lines alongside Shiki. He fought Sengoku in a battle that devastated the surrounding sea, then helped force the Navy’s withdrawal. 18 20 25
