Background / History
The previous Sun Moon Emperor seized the throne by assassinating the late emperor’s line; He Caitou was stated to be the sole survivor of that legitimate line. Despite the irregular succession, the emperor stabilized domestic politics and rapidly strengthened the empire. 533
The empire’s political stability later deteriorated as the emperor became seriously ill and his sons began competing for the throne. The Crown Prince Xu Tianran consolidated influence, while the Third Prince built a rival power base through the Imperial Clan, military victories, and control of the Southern Province. 533 605 669
During the White Lotus Sect rebellion, the empire initially underestimated an army of ten thousand Soul Elders. The rebellion destroyed the Vanguard Legion and killed the Fourth and Fifth Princes, forcing the emperor to commit Beast King Legions and authorize the Third Prince to participate in military affairs. 625
The Third Prince’s Southern Campaign brought the Imperial Dragon, Terror Claw, and Evil Monarch Beast King Legions, two branches of the Six Directions Legion, and numerous noble, local, and ordinary legions under his command. His prestige continued to rise after the campaign. 649 669
Xu Tiancheng was formally enthroned as Sun Moon Emperor after the Soul Master and Soul Engineer Competitions. His first public order reduced taxes for commoners, while the empire’s Fortune and Dragon Qi gathered around him. 907
Government and Political Structure
- Sun Moon Emperor — Supreme ruler of the empire. The imperial throne is tied to the royal family’s bloodline and martial-soul inheritance. 667 907
- Imperial Clan — Major political support base for the Third Prince before his enthronement; its members were pressured to distance themselves from him during Xu Tianran’s consolidation of power. 605
- Left Prime Minister Tang Ya — Appointed alongside Ju Zi after Xu Tiancheng’s enthronement. Her appointment was controversial due to her background, but accepted because of the empire’s strength and her own potential. 950 951
- Right Prime Minister Ju Zi — Appointed with Tang Ya and later served as the empire’s Great General during the Star Luo campaign. 950 1057
- Hall of Worship — Houses powerful worshippers and Guardian-level experts; its appearance at Xu Tiancheng’s enthronement alarmed representatives of the other empires. 907
- Mingde Hall — The empire’s central Soul Tool research institution and a cornerstone of its technical power. It contained extensive processing facilities, research rooms, blueprints, warehouses, and secret projects. 707 711
Military
Hand of National Protection
The Hand of National Protection is the empire’s premier military force. It consists of four Beast King-level Soul Engineer Legions and the Royal/Imperial Soul Engineer Legion. 473 712
| Legion | Known role and composition |
|---|---|
| Imperial Dragon Soul Engineer Legion | Beast King Legion directly under the empire; later served under the Third Prince and took part in attacks on Star Luo territory. 473 669 1269 |

| Imperial Soul Engineer Legion | The strongest component of the Hand of National Protection; stationed in Mingdu to defend and obey the emperor, deploying beyond the capital only in critical circumstances. 712 |
- Each Beast King Legion originally numbered 300 personnel, required members to possess at least four-ring Soul Ancestor cultivation, and was commanded by a Ninth Level Soul Engineer. 473
- The Imperial Soul Engineer Legion required at least five-ring Soul King cultivation and received newly developed equipment before other units. 712
- During the execution-ground battle, the Imperial Soul Engineer Legion fielded 300 Soul Saint-or-higher members equipped with Class Seven-or-higher full-body Soul Tools, led by five Titled Douluo. 1304
Other Forces
- Six Directions Legions — Six regional legions with roughly 500 members each and a minimum two-ring entry standard. The Southern Legion was central to the suppression of the White Lotus rebellion. 625
- Ordinary and Local Legions — Larger but less valued formations used for garrison duty, local defense, and battlefield cleanup; their combat effectiveness is below that of the Six Directions Legions. 625
- Ten Directions Legions — Later-era military formations that frequently operate alongside Beast King Legions during continental campaigns. 1269 1270
- Imperial Reverse Scale Special Soul Engineer Legion — A specially cultivated force deployed during the invasion of Star Luo. 1057

Soul Tool Technology
Soul Engineer Development
The Sun Moon Empire’s military advantage is rooted in its Soul Engineer system. Its regular legions can field Soul Tool configurations comparable to the elite units of the former Douluo Three Kingdoms, while Soul Tools allow comparatively weaker soul masters to become highly dangerous combatants. 352 857
The empire historically lacked experts who could surpass ordinary Ninth Level Soul Engineers, as well as powerful Super Douluo capable of matching the top experts gathered by Shrek Academy. It therefore sought to strengthen its soul master system alongside Soul Tool development. 504 571
Mingde Hall Projects
- Humanoid Soul Tool — Mingde Hall’s highest secret was an incomplete, fifteen-meter humanoid metal Soul Tool. The project had consumed enormous resources and the labor of many high-level Soul Engineers. 708
- Soul Tool Blueprint Storage — The Hall stored high-value blueprints, including Rank 9 Soul Tool designs and the Zhuge Divine Crossbow Cannon blueprint. 711
- Zhuge Divine Crossbow Cannon — A Soul Tool developed from Tang Sect hidden-weapon concepts; complete blueprints, downgraded variants, and a proposed Class 9 version were presented to Jing Hongchen. 529
- Soul Tool Hidden Weapons — The Sun Moon Xu Family Team demonstrated combined hidden weapons and Soul Tools, which impose lower user requirements than conventional Soul Tools. 848
- Thunder Fire Bomb — A modified weapon used by the Sun Moon Xu Family Team to defeat the Star Luo Battle Team and force forfeitures. 860
Advanced Equipment
- Bonded Soul Tools — Artifact-refining methods allowed Soul Tools to grow with their users and exert power roughly one major rank above their nominal quality. 1306
- Sun Moon Divine Light Shield — Kong Deming’s Lifebound Soul Tool evolved into an unprecedented Class Eleven Soul Tool capable of shielding all of Mingdu. 1305
- Live-broadcast Soul Tools — Developed by combining Green Star technology, these Soul Guidance Screens could transmit images across extreme distances. 1305
- Large-scale combined soul engineering formations — The Evil Monarch Legion combined its forces to summon an Evil Eye Tyrant phantom with divine aura. 1273
Education and Talent Programs
- Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy — The empire’s premier academy and host of the exchange-student cooperation with Shrek Academy. The Mingdu explosion crisis threatened to end this cooperation. 504
- Soul Master Competition — The empire broadened eligibility to allow academies, sects, and clans to compete under their own banners. More than a quarter of the continent’s soul masters above Level 70 were drawn to the event. 808
- Soul Engineer Competition — Held across multiple Soul Engineer levels to display the empire’s technical advantage and promote Mingdu as the “Holy Land” of Soul Engineers. 854 857
- Top Ten Factions List — A continent-wide ranking created for sects, families, and academies; royal families may participate, while empires themselves may not. Rankings are revised every five years through Soul Master Competition results. 851
- Talent-splitting project — The empire openly recruited factions and Soul Engineers from the other three empires while secretly using recruited Sun Moon Soul Engineers as intelligence assets and sources of discord. 853 857
