At the Human Allied Forces Headquarters, Emperor Rex, commander-in-chief of the allied armies, frowned deeply. The other generals did not look much better. Today was the fourth day since the Human Allied Forces' vanguard had entered the Demon Realm, yet they had not encountered a single real battle...
On the first day, the Human Allied Forces suffered harassment and nighttime raids from the Devil Race. They bravely repelled the Devil Race army, though they paid a corresponding price themselves.
On the second day, the Human Allied Forces still did not encounter the Devil Race's main force head-on. Instead, they accidentally marched into a magical Dark Thunder zone. These magical Dark Thunders differed from those of the Surface World. Concealed by the dark-element environment, their fluctuations were extremely faint and difficult to detect, yet their explosive power was astonishing, inflicting heavy casualties upon the vanguard. The army was forced to slow down, with mages probing ahead to clear the mines. Yet at that moment, the fangs of the Devil Race's magical firearms were finally bared. Almost without exception, the first batch of mages fell beneath long-range sniper fire. The range and accuracy of those weapons were simply outrageous. Even the heavily armored infantry guarding the mages had been caught completely off guard. Under layers of protection, the second batch of mages cleared the Dark Thunders at a noticeably slower pace. That night, the Human Allied Forces were harassed again and remained on alert all night. This time, the mages had gained experience in dealing with such large-scale Dark Canopies. Yet after a night of harassment, there had not been a single attack. Instead, the mages' magic power had been drained enormously, leaving them utterly exhausted.
On the third day, they still did not encounter a single enemy soldier—not even a civilian.
