Arc 9The Road to the Buddhist Kingdom

Chen Shisan survived a dangerous journey through Kongming Heaven and Huayang Grotto-Heaven, while Nalan Xingde gathered allies and confronted the Calamity. As Tian Xuan’s group continued toward the Buddhist Kingdom, Linglong joined them and Chen Changsheng’s plans drew Heavenly Court’s support.

  • Chen Shisan and his companions escaped Cang Hong through a spatial rift, where Chen Shisan met Meng Yu and learned from Chen Changsheng about cultivation.
  • After Cang Hong attacked them in the Small World, Meng Yu drove him off, but a venomous snake nearly killed Chen Shisan before Nalan Xingde and Bai Ze saved him.

Chen Changsheng maneuvered the Buddha Fate Assembly into surrendering the Merit Pool, where Chen Shisan strengthened his body and advanced dramatically. As Zhang Bairen founded the Heavenly Court to face a threat from another world, Chen Changsheng took charge and prepared the younger generation for what lay ahead.

  • Chen Changsheng challenged Tian Xuan to explain how his choices would help him survive and restore the Demon Race, and Tian Xuan broke through after facing his failures.

After the allied forces defeated the Uncanny, Chen Changsheng became Night Watchman at God and Demon Cemetery and learned that the Lower Realm’s conflict was bound up with an Upper Realm.

  • Chen Changsheng destroyed Huayang Grotto-Heaven to expose and trap the Uncanny, then left Tian Xuan in command while Chen Shisan went to Netherworld Forest to train.
  • Chen Changsheng arranged for Chen Shisan to part from Proud Snow Red Plum and Meng Yu, then sent him into Netherworld Forest to kill its regenerating demon beasts.
