Background / History

Ichinose has a younger sister and had been involved in student-council work since childhood. Years before enrolling at Advanced Nurturing High School, she stole an item as a gift for her family. Her mother made her kneel and apologize to the shop clerk, and Ichinose subsequently spent half a year suspended, unable to forgive herself for the theft. The experience made her especially attentive to other people’s feelings and needs. 21

At Advanced Nurturing High School, she became the trusted center of Class B. Her classmates rely on her for advice, emotional support, and leadership, while voluntarily entrusting much of their private-point savings to her care. 14 32

When Class C attempted to bait Class B into investigating Kujo through Ishizaki’s impersonation, Ichinose intervened personally. She recognized the supposed alliance as a trap, refused to commit Class B, and resolved to investigate Kujo and the school’s Student Council herself. 14

Horikita Manabu selected her Student Council application alongside those of Horikita Suzune and Katsuragi Kohei. During her interview, Ichinose falsely claimed Kujo had sent her in order to gain an advantage for Class B; Horikita saw through the lie but accepted her into the council. 18 25

Appearance

Ichinose is described as a pretty, cheerful girl with a cute face and a polished, approachable presence. Her popularity, personality, and Student Council position make her highly recognizable among the first-year students. 25 39

  • Noted for her bright smile and gentle demeanor. 14 25
  • Regarded by other students as exceptionally well-liked and nearly flawless. 18 39
  • Her expression becomes notably subdued when confronted with her past or doubts about her worthiness as a leader. 21

Personality

Ichinose is empathetic, patient, and highly responsive to others’ emotions. She listens to people who are upset, shares in others’ happiness or frustrations, and quietly stays with those who are crying. This generosity makes her a natural leader, but also leaves her prone to exhaustion from placing everyone else before herself. 14 21

She is socially perceptive rather than naïve. Ichinose reads the atmosphere well, uses language carefully, and can force herself to lie or make difficult decisions when she believes Class B needs protection. 18 20

Her past theft remains a source of guilt and self-doubt. When Kujo learns of it, she fears that it disqualifies her from leading others and seeks his approval. His confrontation pushes her to reconsider her habit of treating her own needs as less important than everyone else’s. 21

Despite the school’s competitive system, Ichinose favors cooperation over domination. She rejects Nagumo’s plan to discard weaker or disobedient students and instead aims for all first-year students to avoid expulsion and enjoy their school life together. 25

Abilities & Skills

Investigation and Deduction

Ichinose traces information through social patterns and eliminates possibilities methodically.

  • Identified Class C as the source of the school-rule rumors by tracking how each class claimed to have heard them. 20
  • Narrowed the source further to Class C’s girls and deduced Manabe Shiho’s involvement through her classmates’ connections. 20
  • Recognized that Ishizaki’s proposed multi-class partnership could be used by Class C to destabilize and betray Classes B and D. 14

Social Insight and Negotiation

Ichinose’s popularity and ability to read people let her obtain information without relying on intimidation.

  • Pressured Manabe into revealing that Kujo and Ryuen were not aligned in the planned attack on Class A. 20
  • Refused to let Class B make a rushed decision based on Ishizaki’s overwhelming and unverified claims. 14
  • Taught Kujo the basics of Japanese tea ceremony with patience, encouraging him through repeated failures. 21

Leadership and Organization

Ichinose leads through trust, personal responsibility, and cooperation between groups.

  • Protects Class B’s interests while avoiding alliances that could damage friendships with other classes. 21
  • Organizes cross-class study groups with Classes B, C, and D to prevent midterm failures and expulsions. 31
  • Coordinates Class B’s students and funds, with Kanzaki and other classmates supporting her leadership. 27 39

Student Council Work

As a first-year Student Council member, Ichinose handles both administrative and interpersonal duties.

  • Calculates club funding and integrates first-year personnel data. 31
  • Was initially assigned face-to-face coordination duties because of her interpersonal skills, though unrelated work gradually accumulated on her desk. 31
  • Monitors Student Council and upperclassman activity, including Nagumo’s collection of past exam papers. 31

Private-Point Stewardship

Ichinose safeguards Class B’s pooled private points rather than treating them as solely her own.

  • Holds at least three million private points entrusted to her by Class B. 32
  • Requires Class B’s consent before lending pooled funds. 32
  • Agrees to Kujo’s request for a 2.5-million-point loan after judging that his help could protect Class B from future expulsions. 33

Relationships

  • Kujo Makoto — Strategic contact and confidant. Ichinose investigates him after the Class C impersonation incident, teaches him tea ceremony, shares Student Council intelligence with him, and accepts his proposal to borrow Class B’s points. Kujo knows her past and challenges her self-sacrificing mindset. 20 21 31 33
  • Kanzaki Ryuji — Class B’s cautious collaborator. He negotiates with Ishizaki, records the conversation for later review, and supports Ichinose as she carries Class B’s leadership burden. 14 27
  • Horikita Manabu — Student Council President who selects and accepts Ichinose as a first-year council member. He later probes her motives behind the inter-class study sessions. 18 25 37
  • Nagumo Miyabi — Second-year Student Council Vice President who attempts to recruit her into his future regime. Ichinose rejects his philosophy of abandoning students who cannot—or will not—follow him. 25
  • Shiina Hiyori — Friend and confidante. Ichinose discusses romance and a classmate’s feelings for her with Hiyori, while Hiyori seeks to grow closer to Ichinose and learn from her strengths. 33
  • Class B — Ichinose’s classmates place deep trust in her, celebrate their successes around her, and entrust their pooled private points to her management. 14 27 32
