Background / History

Yi Jiang and her younger sister, Yi Xuan, were found freezing on a snowy street by Yun Lan. Though wary of the stranger, Yi Jiang accepted his help because Yi Xuan was close to hypothermia and needed food and warmth. Yun Lan brought them to the Yun Family villa and offered them either financial support or a place in his household as maids. 35

At the villa, Yi Jiang remained restrained even when confronted with a meal and baskets of char siu bao. She tried to preserve her dignity as the elder sister, but eventually gave in to hunger after watching Yi Xuan eat. 36 37
