Lin Mu almost immediately wore an exasperated expression.

He lifted a hand and lightly pressed his brow, his gesture full of lazy irritation.

The lollipop in his mouth swayed with the movement. It was grape-flavored, the Nth one he'd had today.

"Please, Hiyori."

His voice was full of exasperation, as though he were dealing with a stubborn child who kept asking the same question:

"After spending so much time together, you should know me better than anyone. I can't believe you'd still ask me something like that..."

He dropped the act and leaned against the bookshelf. His usually languid eyes held a hint of mischief.

"Besides, I know exactly how much trouble Ryuen Kakeru from your class is.

With my all-in attitude toward doing nothing, we'd never get along."

He paused and looked Hiyori Shiina up and down.

"Also, could you stop asking me that every time we meet?

Hiyori Shiina gave a soft "Hmm."

She didn't argue or try to explain herself. She simply listened quietly, a faint light in her purple eyes.

She still held the copy of The Crooked House Murder in her arms. Silver hair fell on either side of her face, and the afternoon sunshine made her seem especially serene.

When Lin Mu finished, she spoke softly, her voice as gentle as a breeze in the library.

"You're right. I don't like conflict."

She paused and tilted her head slightly.

"But Class C needs me, so I won't leave. That's where you and I differ, Lin Mu."

Lin Mu shrugged and didn't pursue the topic.

After all, he hadn't come here to discuss whether he would join Class C.
