History

Taiyu City developed rapidly after the alien war, using biotechnology recovered from ruins beneath the city. Pharmaceutical technologies and nutrient solutions became major local industries, while the Old District housed many related factories. 43 56

Its prosperity declined after the confidentiality periods on those pharmaceutical formulas expired, allowing the Federation to make the technology public. Taiyu then performed poorly in successive Hundred Cities Tournaments, losing ranking and resource access as other city-states surpassed it. 43 56

The Old District became the clearest symbol of this decline. Its industrial base hollowed out after the creation of the New Central District, while gangs and illegal organizations filled the resulting vacuum. Multiple administrations attempted redevelopment, but every effort stalled because of the district’s entrenched interests and criminal networks. 15 21 29

Mayor Qian Yuansen revived the redevelopment plan after Taiyu won the right to host the Hundred Cities Tournament. The municipal council approved the renovation project, martial law, and Level Two combat readiness, while Guardian Xiao Cheng declared that anyone obstructing the tournament would die. 31

The Security Bureau’s campaign removed the Blood Blade Gang, Azure Dragon Society, and eventually the Cultivation Holders Association. The battle exposed an Alien Warship buried beneath the city, which was subsequently secured and dismantled for its technology. 19 44 77
