Background / History

Yun Ming is the husband of Ya Li and father of Yun Ze. At Yun Ze’s awakening ceremony, he prepared a secret room within the Sea God Pavilion, built entirely of spirit-forged metal after Yun Ze’s birth. Only Yun Ming, Ya Li, and Guan Yue attended. 1

Yun Ze awakened the Heaven-Propping Spear, Heaven-Surpassing Spear, and Prayer Angel martial souls. Yun Ming was delighted by the inheritance of his and Ya Li’s martial souls, but was unsettled that Guan Yue’s spear martial soul had also appeared in his son. 1 2 He subsequently hid Yun Ze’s Prayer Angel mark and ordered him not to reveal it publicly before reaching the Soul Saint realm, due to the danger it could attract. 2

Following a Sea God Pavilion decision, Yun Ming gave Yun Ze the Three-Eyed Golden Lion Spirit Soul, a manifestation of the Power of Fate left by the Spirit Ice Douluo. 3 When the spirit soul chose permanent fusion with Yun Ze rather than its usual legacy fusion, Yun Ming concluded that his son possessed the potential to become a god and reconsidered his earlier hope that Yun Ze would simply remain at Shrek as its protector. 4

As Yun Ze’s cultivation accelerated, Yun Ming became divided between keeping him protected within Shrek and allowing him to gain experience in the outside world.
