Background

Yun Ze was reborn into the Douluo Continent as the only son of Heaven-Propping Douluo Yun Ming and Ya Li. Conscious that he was a person who “should not exist” in the setting, he grew up with a strong sense of danger and a determination to become powerful in his own right. 1

At age six, Yun Ze underwent an unusually prestigious martial soul awakening personally conducted by Yun Ming. He awakened the Heaven-Propping Spear and Heaven-Surpassing Spear, a symbiotic Twin Martial Soul pair inherited from his father’s line, alongside the Prayer Angel inherited from Ya Li. 1 2

Because the Prayer Angel had previously attracted hostile attention, Yun Ming ordered Yun Ze to conceal it until reaching Soul Saint level unless he was surrounded exclusively by trusted people. 2

Following his parents’ and Guan Yue’s master’s advice, Yun Ze became Guan Yue’s disciple. He trained at Shrek Academy under Guan Yue’s demanding spear regimen, which combined physical training, medicinal baths, cultivation, and simulated combat. 2 4

He is also blunt toward arrogance and prejudice. During Ye Xinglan’s assessment, he deliberately humbled her because he believed unchecked arrogance could get her killed; afterward, he still ensured her recovery and recruited her into Shrek’s Inner Court. 11

Although ruthless against hostile opponents, Yun Ze distinguishes between a Martial Soul’s nature and its wielder’s choices. He defended Yuanen Yehui from Yue Zhengyu’s assumptions about Fallen Angel Martial Souls, defining Evil Soul Masters by evil deeds or cultivation methods rather than by Martial Soul alone. 16

Yun Ze’s Heaven-Propping Spear and Heaven-Surpassing Spear are distinct but symbiotic Martial Souls. Their soul rings must advance together, but he can manifest and use both simultaneously without requiring a separate dual-wielding technique. 2

Yun Ze awakened his spear Martial Souls and Prayer Angel, became Guan Yue’s disciple, then permanently fused with the Three-Eyed Golden Lion Spirit Soul. This permanent bond severed the Spirit Soul’s prior connection to Shrek Academy’s fate line and led Yun Ming to believe Yun Ze possessed the potential for godhood. 1 2 4

After training under Guan Yue, Yun Ze fought Evil Soul Masters during a Soul Guidance Train robbery and used Spear of Destiny in real combat. He then endured advanced simulated trials against Wang Qiu’er and Wang Dong’er’s projections, including their Golden Butterfly Dragon Transformation. 5 6

Secondary Professions and Shrek Recruitment

Yun Ze developed as both a blacksmith and mecha designer while maintaining cultivation. He sparred with Na’er, assessed Ye Xinglan for Shrek Academy, and recruited the latter as a special Inner Court student. 7 9 10 11

Seeking to improve his Spirit Soul and interfere with the Spirit Pagoda’s fortune, Yun Ze entered its Primary Spirit Ascension Platform while concealing his second spear. Outer Court Examination and Departure

Working alongside Wu Zhangkong, Yun Ze investigated grave robberies at Heaven Dou Cemetery. He defeated an illusion-wielding Evil Soul Master and discovered the Holy Spirit Cult’s Dark Spirit Martial Arts Tournament, prompting plans to infiltrate the Dark Spirit Ascension Platform. 24 25 26

Journey to Tianlin City

With Na’er’s disguise mask, Yun Ze traveled toward Tianlin City to investigate the Dark Spirit Ascension Platform. During the journey, he destroyed two hostile mechas and killed their pilots after they attempted to bind his own mecha with steel cables. 28 29
