Background / History
Tang Wulin is the biological son of Tang San and Xiao Wu. At his birth, the Golden Dragon King’s divine core entered his body, and Tang San placed eighteen seals within him to contain its power. When the God Realm was swept away by space-time turbulence, he was sent to the Douluo Continent and adopted by Tang Ziran and his wife. Each broken seal grants him part of the Golden Dragon King’s power, but also increases the danger of his bloodline losing control. 103
He grows up in a poor but loving household. Despite his family’s circumstances, he brings the wandering Na’er home and treats her as his foster sister. The years spent with Na’er and his adoptive parents are described as the happiest and most carefree period of his life. 137 189
At age six, Tang Wulin awakens Blue Silver Grass with only Rank 3 Innate Soul Power. He initially considers his martial soul a crippling weakness, especially after obtaining a defective ten-year Little Snake Soul Spirit. The sudden appearance of the Light Screen exposes his future and tells him that he is Tang San’s son, a revelation he initially rejects in favor of Tang Ziran and Lang Yue as his true parents. 1 58 59 60
The Light Screen later reveals that his lasting strength comes from the Golden Dragon King bloodline, forging talent, resources, and personal resolve—not from ordinary Blue Silver Grass. This knowledge burdens him, but does not turn him against the family who raised him. 58 116 165
Personality
Tang Wulin begins as an insecure child, deeply affected by the perceived worthlessness of Blue Silver Grass and his low innate soul power. Even so, he is notably resilient: he continues training, accepts difficult circumstances, and works to reduce his family’s burden through forging. 58 103 166
Tang Ziran’s upbringing gives him a lasting sense of kindness and responsibility. Rather than becoming resentful over his origins or hardships, Tang Wulin values the people around him and resolves to protect them. 165
He holds reverence for life, particularly for the Dragon Clan. In Dragon Valley, he refuses to loot dragon remains for Soul Bones and instead spends three years giving them a proper burial. This act earns the dragon souls’ recognition and deepens his understanding of Gu Yuena’s wish to secure a future for soul beasts. 135 190
Tang Wulin also shows a reflective attitude toward vengeance. After learning of the tangled conflict between Tang Ziran’s family and Tong Yu, he concludes that neither side is wholly right or wrong and resolves to address the matter only after becoming stronger. 158
