Background

Before the Great Cataclysm, Ji Donglai was an ordinary plumber. By the time he recruited Fang Can, he had lived for over three hundred years and had become the leader of the New Nation's Superpowered community. 96

He built his authority around the belief that Superpowered individuals are each other's true family, irrespective of strength or status. As a result, he has repeatedly sheltered young ability users—such as the twelve-year-old Willpower King—from law enforcement and family ties, encouraging them to regard their powers as their defining identity. 95 261

As Dragon Group team leader, Ji investigated the arrival of Martial World lifeforms and the “Humanoid Wish Machine” phenomenon. He recognized that cultivation techniques were manifestations of the wish machines' power and regretted that ordinary Superpowered could not directly cultivate them.
