Background / History
Wang Jinyang first appears at Magic Martial University as a third-rank martial artist from Southern Martial University. Calm but openly provocative toward those he considers unworthy, he challenges Liu Yongwen after the latter threatens Fang Ping and declares that he will accept challenges from any third-rank martial artist for three days. He later spars Lu Hao, winning through his higher cultivation while acknowledging Lu Hao’s potential at an equal realm. 59 60
He enters the Magic City Abyss alongside Lu Hao and Qin Fengqing shortly after breaking through to Rank Four. The three repeatedly operate as a team in dangerous Earth Cave expeditions, including clashes with Rank Five beasts and martial artists. During a battle against a Rank Six opponent, Wang Jinyang expends marrow force to unleash Seven Blades as One, creating the opening that allows Lu Hao to finish the enemy; the exertion leaves Wang unconscious. 62 70 114 115 116
Outside combat, Wang Jinyang bears responsibilities in Nanjiang. His teacher became trapped in the Southern Heaven Earth Cave, and Wang took in the teacher’s child, Nini. Principal Chen also supported him from Rank One onward and was regarded by Wang as family; Chen’s death during the Nanjiang Earth Cave conflict intensifies Wang’s determination to become stronger. 108 261 287
Following his rapid advancement, Wang supports Governor Zhang Dingnan’s reforms at Southern Martial University. His authority as Martial Arts Club president helps give the reforms legitimacy, while he continues prioritizing cultivation and improving his vitality-and-blood control. 181 182 218 226
At Rank Six, Wang discovers that he is a reborn martial artist. His Gate of Life had been innately sealed, preserving a divine weapon and remnants of his past life. Lu Hao identifies him as Zhan’s reincarnation and warns that his jade-like marrow, half-golden body, and divine weapon make his background too dangerous to reveal publicly. 59 221 222
Appearance
Wang Jinyang has a close-cropped haircut, otherwise ordinary features, and unusually bright, snow-like eyes. 59
- Usually carries a long saber in close combat. 60
- Later carries a longbow in addition to his saber. 258
- His body can emit golden light after his Golden Body advances. 366
- When using marrow-permeating techniques, blood seeps from his pores and can obscure his half-golden bones. 259
Personality
Wang Jinyang is composed, direct, and confident in his strength. He can be domineering in public confrontations, but Qin Fengqing considers him open and honorable rather than petty. He distinguishes rivalry between martial universities from humanity’s larger war against the Earth Caves, directing his contempt toward martial artists who lack ambition or obsess over minor schemes. 59 73
He is highly pragmatic about cultivation: resources should be converted into strength, and strength is the most reliable protection against scrutiny or danger. This outlook informs the advice he gives Fang Ping about hiding unusual abilities, building powerful backing, and becoming strong enough that others cannot interfere. 143 144 180
Despite his blunt manner, Wang is protective of those close to him. He helps evacuate Fang Ping’s family during an Evil Cult attack, asks Lu Hao and Qin Fengqing to help search for his trapped teacher, and chooses to share the danger of absorbing the Emperor’s Tomb heart rather than take its full power alone. 261 314 563
Abilities & Skills
Saber Techniques
Wang’s primary fighting style centers on aggressive saber combat, combining high bursts of vitality and blood with powerful finishing techniques.
- Bloodburst Frenzied Blade is a low-rank combat technique used in conjunction with his strongest saber art. 67
- Seven Blades as One concentrates multiple layers of force into a devastating strike; it can break high-level physical defenses and severely wound stronger opponents. 67 115
- His Rank Three spar with Lu Hao featured vitality-and-blood eruptions approaching 200 calories per strike. 60
- The technique’s heavy output can exhaust him quickly when used against superior opponents. 115 116
Marrow Force
Wang can draw on and project the power of his bone marrow, granting attacks far beyond his ordinary realm.
- He used marrow force during Seven Blades as One to wound a Rank Six martial artist. 115
- Marrow permeating the body floods his body with vitality and blood, allowing an extreme all-out saber strike. 259
- His marrow force can injure enemies that his standard attacks cannot decisively defeat. 115 315
- Overuse is dangerous: it can leave him unconscious, seriously injured, or unable to recover his combat strength quickly. 116 260 315
Half-Golden Body and Indestructible Matter
Upon reaching Rank Six, Wang automatically forges a half-golden body due to indestructible matter revived within him.
- His body is substantially tougher than that of an ordinary Rank Six martial artist. 221 315
- Indestructible matter can separate from his body to heal injuries, reducing his dependence on Life Essence. 222
- The half-golden body and completed marrow tempering give him a major advantage in prolonged fights. 248 257
War God Bow
The War God Bow is a blood-red divine longbow sealed in Wang’s Gate of Life since birth.
- Its inherent enhancement raises the user’s combat power by nearly 20%. 221 223
- Unlike most divine weapons, it can be used by anyone, making its existence especially valuable and dangerous to expose. 223
- Wang can form arrows from vitality and blood, firing shots fast enough to strike before their sonic boom arrives. 259
- He uses the bow to wound a high-ranked masked attacker while rescuing Fang Ping, though the shots consume significant marrow force and vitality. 315
- The bow can be stored within his Three-Focus Gate to conceal it. 222
Mental Power Manifestation
Wang manifests his mental power at Rank Six, with the manifestation taking the form of the War God Bow.
- The manifestation opens his Gate of Life and further tempers his golden bones. 366
- It significantly increases his combat strength, placing him among the most dangerous Rank Six martial artists. 366
- His mental power is strong enough to resist Yao Chengjun’s mental interference during their exchange-tournament match. 257
Combat Record
- Defeats Yao Chengjun, First Military Academy’s strongest student, in one move. 257
- Draws with Qin Fengqing after both use dangerous ultimate techniques and sustain severe internal injuries. 259 260
- Survives against a Rank Seven as an early Rank Six until reinforcements arrive. 325
- Fights three peak Rank Six martial artists alone in the Nanjiang Earth Cave, kills one, and becomes Hua Nation’s top Rank Six. 347
