Without waiting for anyone else to speak, the Immortal continued, "Every one of you World Lords has surely trained in the Virtual Universe Network time and again. Based on your performance, the Virtual Universe Network rates your strength. This rating is very important, as it determines your standing in the military."
"The ratings are divided into three levels: first, 'Ordinary World Lord Warrior'; second, 'Elite World Lord Warrior'; and third, 'World Lord General.'"
"Most World Lords are Ordinary World Lord Warriors."
"Those acknowledged by an Origin Law can barely be considered Elite World Lord Warriors."
"Generally, one World Lord General emerges for every hundred Elite World Lord Warriors!" the Immortal God said. "I believe each of you has displayed your full strength in the Virtual Universe. If any of you hasn't shown your full strength there and is worried that the authorization ceremony won't be fair, you can enter the Virtual Universe Network now and demonstrate your full strength. We'll begin granting authorizations shortly."
"That should cover everything. Come forward one at a time to receive your authorization."
The 100 World Lords approached the Immortal God one by one. A blue light shot from the screen on his arm guard, enveloping each World Lord as they stepped forward.
"Elite World Lord Warrior!"
"Ordinary World Lord Warrior!"
"Elite World Lord Warrior!"
"Elite World Lord Warrior!"
The screen on the Immortal God's arm guard automatically announced each rating. At the same time, every World Lord receiving authorization was sent a notification from the Virtual Universe System. The higher the authorization, the more distinguished one's standing in the military.
Most World Lords who dared to come to the Outer-Region Battlefield, especially lone World Lords, were Elite World Lord Warriors. There were far fewer Ordinary World Lord Warriors, usually only half as many as the elite.
Those Ordinary World Lords generally entered the Outer-Region Battlefield as part of a Universe Country's army, or joined a legion led by an Immortal God. Very few went as lone warriors. At the very least, they would act together in a large team of World Lords.
Likewise, among lone World Lords, World Lord Generals were even rarer than Ordinary World Lord Warriors. After all, one group was weak, while the other was strong.
In the universe, the stronger someone was, the rarer they were.
By the time it was Qin Cang's turn, 65 of the 99 World Lords had been rated "Elite World Lord Warrior," and 33 had been rated "Ordinary World Lord Warrior."
There was only one World Lord General.
The sole World Lord General was a golden ape-man, though it was unclear which ape-man branch he came from. After all, the ape-men were one of the largest branches of the Human Race, and by sheer numbers, they were the biggest.
As the last World Lord to arrive, Qin Cang was also the last to receive his insignia.
The Immortal God came over to Qin Cang. A blue light swept across him.
"World Lord General!"
The other 99 World Lords all turned their eyes to Qin Cang. World Lord Generals were exceedingly rare; they hadn't expected to encounter two this time. That was already a remarkably high proportion.
The ape-man also looked at Qin Cang, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. He clearly hadn't expected to find a second World Lord General here.
Qin Cang, however, had no interest in these people. They would never be part of the same world as him. For now, he had come as a World Lord only to get a feel for the way battles were fought on the Outer-Region Battlefield. Before long, he would become a true lone warrior, disguising himself as an Immortal God to hunt powerful enemies from the Alien Race.
"The authorization ceremony is now complete." The Immortal God raised his voice, and it rang out among the tens of thousands of Universe Warriors. "Follow me. We'll transport you all to the Outer-Region Battlefield shortly. This is a war between races, with a great many warriors taking part. There are currently nine battlefields, all beyond Human Territory, which is why they're called the Outer-Region Battlefields. You'll be going to the Third Battlefield."
"The Third Battlefield?" Qin Cang thought. It doesn't matter. All the battlefields are the same. I'm here to train, so there's no need to go all the way to the Seventh Battlefield. Once I'm strong enough, I can visit the Star Tower.
But there are only nine Outer-Region Battlefields right now? It seems two haven't been opened yet. I wonder which unlucky race has a secret region coveted by the Four Peak Races—and is about to be wiped out.
"All of them are beyond Human Territory?"
A wave of chatter rose around them.
Pato's voice rang out too. "The Third Outer-Region Battlefield has an average death rate of 95.2 percent, ranking sixth among the nine battlefields. It's a good place to go."
"Move out!" the Immortal God commanded.
The tens of thousands of warriors set off in a great procession, with the World Lords at the front. Before long, they reached a vast hall, over a thousand miles in diameter. Inside it stood nine enormous passageways that looked like curtains of water, each one a spatial gateway.
"This is the spatial passage to the Third Battlefield." The Immortal God walked to one of the watery screens. "The Third Battlefield is a Universe Secret Region with a maximum diameter of about 980,000 light-years. After billions of years of slaughter, the dangers within the secret region itself have been reduced to almost nothing. The main threat now comes from enemy races. There are a hundred Barracks Bases in the Third Battlefield. You're being sent to Base 001."
The watery screen was a kilometer wide and a kilometer tall.
Whoosh!
The World Lords filed through one by one, and Qin Cang followed. The tens of thousands of soldiers soon entered the passage.
Using a God Kingdom as a transit point, the tens of thousands of soldiers arrived at the relay station within the God Kingdom. They then entered another spatial passage and were transported directly to Base 001 on the Third Battlefield, beyond Human Territory.
After reaching the Barracks Base, Qin Cang and the other 99 World Lords followed their guide to a vast lounge. Numerous squads were gathered there, many led by Immortal Gods. It made for a decent transition.
"Everyone, this batch of World Lords includes two World Lord Generals. It's up to you to win them over, haha..." the guide said. He then revealed that Qin Cang and the ape-man were both World Lord Generals, and left.
The presence of World Lord Generals naturally caused a scramble among the squads. After all, they had the strength to hold off an Immortal God, if only temporarily, at a crucial moment. Sometimes, that brief delay alone could turn the tide of battle.
"World Lord General, please join our squad! Our squad is led by..."
"Don't listen to him. Our captain has an Immortal-Level Plant Lifeform protecting him. I don't need to tell you how rare that is. Join our squad, and I guarantee..."
"Join our squad. We'll give you a share of the military contributions..."
Every squad pulled out all the stops to win over the two World Lord Generals, using every means at their disposal. If fighting hadn't been forbidden at the Barracks Base, they would have been at each other's throats by now.
In the end, the ape-man World Lord General joined the squad that claimed to have an Immortal-Level Plant Lifeform.
Qin Cang ultimately chose the squad led by the first Immortal God who had personally invited him.
