Thinking of his pet Undying Bird, Little Red, Liu Yun couldn't help smiling. He hadn't taken her along when he left, so she'd thrown a fit and refused to pay him any attention.
Before leaving, Liu Yun had asked Little Red to guard the house, but he didn't know how well she'd carried out her task. He had Cell Evolution Fluid, which worked on the Beast Race, too. In time, he could help her evolve until she was able to speak.
"How can the heroine of this book not even talk?"
The thought of Little Red made Liu Yun chuckle. He headed straight home, when suddenly a message came from the crystal on his chest.
"Warning: Your residence is under attack. The Undying Bird, a combat unit left to guard the premises, has been killed!"
Liu Yun's smile froze. His heart clenched as the message from the crystal struck him like a bolt from the blue. His beloved pet, Little Red, had been attacked while he was away—and... killed?
As Liu Yun reeled in shock, a fierce battle had just ended at his distant villa.
The fight had begun on a quiet afternoon. Little Red had been circling above the villa, guarding the property. Then, without warning, several unwelcome visitors arrived at Liu Yun's residence at the HR Alliance's direction.
Little Red couldn't believe they'd dared to break into the house. She swooped down furiously to drive them away, having no idea what the HR Alliance was.
"Chirp..."
Little Red relentlessly attacked the four women. They recognized her and repeatedly called her by name, but Little Red didn't know them.
"It's just a pet. Probably one Liu Yun couldn't sell. Let's attack together and kill it!"
Yang Xiaolong was furious after being attacked. Little Red had clearly been trying to kill her, and the others seemed to agree.
Ruby struck first. Her Red Great Scythe carved a brilliant arc through the air, its force seeming to rip through space as it hurtled toward Little Red. Little Red soared upward, dodging the deadly blow, then spat out a stream of scorching flames in an attempt to force her enemies back.

Little Red dodged nimbly, beating her wings and sending waves of heat through the air as she tried to drive off this formidable melee fighter with a storm of fire.
Blacka searched for an opening from the sidelines. Her black, form-fitting combat suit blended into the night; only her icy eyes and the Straight Blade clenched in her hand gave her away. She moved like a ghost, silently drawing close to Little Red before slashing at her heart. Little Red's sharp instincts saved her at the last moment. She twisted aside, and her fiery wings struck the ground, kicking up dust and sparks.
At last, the Rose Rapier swept lightly through the air. An intricate pattern of runes appeared, like an invisible net slowly closing around Little Red.
Poor Little Red sensed the danger, but she was already trapped. The runes' power gradually restricted her movements, and her flames dimmed.
At this life-or-death moment, Little Red unleashed power unlike anything she'd shown before. She threw back her head and cried out as her fiery wings spread wide, as if to set the sky ablaze. A powerful force surged from within her, breaking the runes' hold in an instant. Her flames roared back to life and engulfed the enemies around her.
But it was only a last, desperate burst of strength. Despite the seamless teamwork of Ruby, Yang Xiaolong, Blacka, and Xueni, Little Red was ultimately defeated and met a heroic end.
Ruby looked a little uneasy. She hadn't wanted to kill Little Red, after all—pets were still Liu Yun's property.
"Was it really right for us to do that? We should've left her alive!"
The other three just shook their heads. They didn't think they'd done anything wrong.
"Even if Liu Yun is a War God, he shouldn't keep such a vicious Beast General in the base. What if it got out and killed someone? Killing it was self-defense. Don't worry—we'll be fine!"
Xueni had a point, but Little Red obeyed Liu Yun and had never attacked a human, aside from throwing the occasional tantrum. She'd fought the four women only because she was doing her job. There was no way Liu Yun would let them get away with it.
Green Tea Ancestor Glinda lived next door. In her towering heels, she hurried over and looked at Little Red's lifeless body with a troubled expression.
"You came here to ask for help. How could you do something like this? Never mind. I'll pay them back for the damage!"
She didn't think it was a big deal, but a pet was still a Martial Artist's property. The villa's plants and flowers had also been badly burned, so they should be ready to pay for the damages.
Liu Yun rushed to the villa, his heart pounding. The sight before him made him feel as if he'd plunged into an icy abyss. Little Red, who should have been full of life and soaring through the sky, lay motionless on the ground. Blood stained her feathers, and her eyes—the ones that had once glimmered with fiery light—were shut forever.
"Little Red..." Liu Yun's voice trembled as he slowly approached, unable to believe what he was seeing. He fell to his knees and gently lifted her body. All he felt was coldness, and the life that no longer stirred within her.
Tears spilled from his eyes and blurred his vision. He held Little Red tightly, as if he could give her all his warmth and strength, but he could never bring back the friend who had fought beside him and kept him company through countless days and nights.
Even with a Machine Race Clone, he couldn't bring Little Red back to life. The heroine had met her end, and Liu Yun roared in fury!
"I'll make you pay for this in blood!"
