Single Attribute Four Clans Gather in Spirit Hall's Dungeon
The dungeon of Spirit City.
Here, not a ray of sunlight is ever seen all year round.
Moisture seeped out from the cracks in the stone wall, mixed with the fishy smell of rust and mold, and went straight into people's nasal cavity.
The stone walls were covered with slippery moss, and the water beneath our feet was ankle-deep, squeaking underfoot and splashing up icy black water that was chilling to the bone.
An oil lamp was hung only every ten meters or so overhead.
The tiny flames were tossed about by the draft, tearing the shadows on the walls into distorted, grotesque faces that glared menacingly at each cell.
The prison doors were all made of cast iron.
Deep within the dungeon, every now and then, a few piercing screams could be heard.
Occasionally, the clanging of chains dragging across the stone slabs echoed through the empty underground, sending chills down one's spine.
"... knock knock knock..."
A series of heavy footsteps approached from the direction of the entrance.
The crisp metallic clang of armor blades colliding echoed repeatedly in the narrow passageway.
A team of the Spirit Hall soldiers in gleaming silver armor filed in carrying a stretcher.
Unconscious figures lay sprawled on the stretchers, their faces deathly pale, their meridians sealed.
The Captain, who was leading the group, kicked a soldier in the calf behind him and yelled, "Hurry up! Drop it all and get out of here! I don't want to stay in this godforsaken place for another second!"
The soldiers quickened their pace, hurriedly stuffing the people on the stretchers into the innermost cell one by one.
The cold iron railings slammed shut.
The massive latch slammed down with a dull metallic clang.
"Withdraw!"
The Captain waved his hand, and the group lined up, their footsteps fading into the distance.
The flame of the oil lamp was still flickering.
In the cell next door.
Yang Wudi leaned against the stone wall, his fingertips twirling the root of a dried herb repeatedly.
He hasn't had a moment's peace since he was locked up.
His mind was completely focused on how to break the seal on his meridians and reactivate his Soul Power.
The loud banging noise next door made him subconsciously look up and glance in that direction.
Then he felt as if he had been doused with ice water from head to toe.
On the cell floor, a burly figure lay face up.
His body was covered in wounds, his clothes soaked in blood to a dark brown hue, and his head was tilted to one side. He knew that face all too well.
The herbs in Yang Wudi's palm slipped and fell into the sewage with a plop.
He didn't even bother to pick it up; he lunged at the cold iron railing, his hands gripping it so tightly the veins bulged, and he yelled at the top of his lungs towards the next room, "Old Gorilla!"
The sound boomed out in the dungeon with a muffled echo, making the oil lamp flame tremble three times.
"The Old Gorilla was arrested too?!"
This shout startled everyone in the two cells on either side.
The Bai He crane was resting with its eyes closed against the railing, its thin body resembling a withered leaf in the dim light.
Upon hearing the words "Old Gorilla," he suddenly straightened up, took three steps in two to the railing, pressed half his face against the cold iron, and strained to see Tai Tan's cell.
Niu Gao sat in the corner, his back against the damp stone wall.
The shout startled me so much that I jumped up.
He rushed to the railing, his rough hands gripping the cold iron tightly. "What? The Old Gorilla fell too?"
The three men huddled together by their respective bars, staring intently at Tai Tan, who lay unconscious in the next cell, their faces draining of color from their eyes.
"What exactly happened?"
Niu Gao's voice was low and deep, but it couldn't suppress the disbelief surging within it.
"It's bad enough that the three of us were arrested, but why was the Old Gorilla also arrested—"
His words caught in his throat.
A large, muscular hand slammed onto the cold iron railing, the dull thud echoing back and forth in the passageway.
Bai He stroked his white goatee, his Adam's apple bobbing twice, and let out a long, heavy sigh.
"Overnight, the Spirit Hall wiped out all Single Attribute Four Clans."
Last night, it wasn't just Yue Guan and Gui Mei who made their move; the Demon Bear Douluo, Ghost Leopard Douluo, and Neon Phoenix Douluo also targeted the other three clans.
Damn it!
Yang Wudi slammed his fist into the cold iron railing, the force so great that the railing vibrated and hummed.
His knuckles were scraped and blood trickled down the railing, dripping into the dirty water at his feet.
He felt no pain whatsoever, each word spitting out from between his teeth sparking. "What exactly does the Spirit Hall want!"
The other two remained silent.
No one could answer his question.
The Single Attribute Four Clans have been rooted in the Heaven Dou Empire for many years.
Although not among the top-tier wealthy families, each clan has Clan Head of Soul Douluo level in charge.
The clan has quite a few elite members, and everyone has to give them some respect.
But the Spirit Hall launched a simultaneous attack overnight.
The four clans were uprooted and imprisoned in the dungeons of Spirit City without exception.
To make a move right under the nose of the Heaven Dou Sect, has the Spirit Hall's power reached this level?
What's even more chilling is that the Spirit Hall went to such lengths, deploying several Titled Douluo to capture every single member of their four clans. What was their motive?
Just kill him?
Yang Wudi stared at Tai Tan, who was unconscious in the next cell, his brows furrowed in a deep knot.
If you want to kill, just kill him on the spot.
Why go through all the trouble of transporting it back to Spirit City and locking it up?
Niu Gao muttered under his breath, "They can't have brought us here for tea, can they?"
Bai He's fingers tightened slightly as he gripped his beard, his aged voice barely audible.
"Not to kill, not to interrogate... then they want to use us to exchange for something, or... to lure someone in."
The three exchanged a glance, and a layer of frost simultaneously rose in their pupils.
The Pope Palace.
Bibi Dong sat on the Pope Throne.
With his eyes lowered, he looked down at Yue Guan and Gui Mei, who were standing bowing at the bottom of the steps.
With his Yue Guan recounted the entire process of capturing the Strength Clan, word by word.
They were very careful, afraid of displeasing Bibi Dong's people.
When he mentioned that he encountered Tang Hao at the stronghold of the Strength Clan, but Tang Hao used the secret technique of exploding Ring Detonation to unleash his power and escape, he said...
Bibi Dong slammed the Scepter in her hand heavily onto the white jade floor.
A muffled thud echoed far and wide in the empty Pope Palace.
"Waste!"
Bibi Dong coldly uttered two words, her voice devoid of any warmth.
If he couldn't even defeat Tang Hao, who was practically useless after receiving two titles, what else could he be but a piece of trash?
Yue Guan and Gui Mei froze simultaneously, lowering their heads even further, standing there in fear and trembling, not daring to even breathe.
Both of them are Titled Douluo elders of the Spirit Hall.
He is revered by thousands.
But in front of Bibi Dong, he didn't even dare to raise his head.
"..."
A moment of silence.
Bibi Dong waved her hand, a hint of impatience flashing in her eyes.
"Step down."
There was no punishment, no scolding; just that light remark made Yue Guan and Gui Mei feel as if they had been granted a pardon.
"Yes!"
The two bowed and walked backward out of the Pope Palace.
The two only breathed a sigh of relief after the palace doors were completely closed.
Yue Guan wiped away his cold sweat, sighed, and turned to the Gui Mei beside him.
"His Holiness the Pope is still so cold-hearted, Old Ghost. Why do you think His Holiness the Pope values people related to Tang Hao so much?"
The Gui Mei didn't respond to him, but simply gave him a cold glance and turned to leave.
"Old Ghost?"
Seeing the Gui Mei disappear into the distance in a flash, Yue Guan rolled her eyes and followed after it.
