Background

Jia Lin was discovered as a conscious crimson dragon egg buried beneath a grave mound in a tomb-like space. Her energy reserves were insufficient and her autonomous absorption ability too weak to break the shell. Lin Jin nourished the egg with the flame of his Eight-Colored Lotus, which she absorbed eagerly, then persuaded her into accepting a contract. 216

The contract made her Lin Jin's Spirit Soul and linked his mark to the Dragon Realm, granting him the qualifications to occupy it. She later emerged as the most powerful of his five Legendary Spirit Souls in raw power, though still young. 218

Her appearance during the conflict with the Spirit Pagoda exposed her lineage to Gu Yuena: she is a direct descendant of the Fire Dragon King. This revelation made Gu Yuena and Di Tian view Lin Jin's Spirit Soul contract with her as an intolerable enslavement of a Dragon King descendant. 233

The Golden Dragon King subsequently chose Jia Lin over Gu Yuena as the vessel for his legacy, judging Gu Yuena too indecisive to reliably restore the Dragon God.
