Background / History

Before joining Keima's mission, Elsie spent approximately three hundred years performing cleaning work. She was assigned to assist the self-proclaimed “God of Conquest” in a parallel world, where their cover identities were established as siblings enrolled at Advanced Nurturing High School. Their mission must be completed within three years, before the targets graduate. 1 5

Elsie supplies Keima with mission cards that identify targets and display their current affection levels. She is highly invested in the mission's success, fearing that failure—or her expulsion—would leave no one to supervise Keima and lead to the world's destruction. 1 2 18

Her lack of familiarity with human-world common knowledge becomes an immediate problem at school. After earning only eight points on an early quiz, she tries to conceal the result with demon powers, then begins studying under Keima's supervision. Her reading improves through frequent library visits and Shiina Hiyori's recommendations, though tutoring her remains difficult for the study group. 7 8 9 18 27

Personality

She is also naive and prone to literal misunderstandings. Her attempts to improve her grades lead her to read mystery novels during class, while an instruction to distract Airi at a café results in her loudly bringing Airi to Keima and Hiyori's table instead. 18 48

When Keima asks her to distract Airi during his meeting with Hiyori, Elsie misunderstands the instruction and instead loudly invites Airi to their table, creating an awkward gathering. 48
