Jiraiya froze for a moment, then realized what had happened-the Great Salamander King was so badly injured that his chakra output could no longer sustain the Reverse Summoning Technique. Hanzō had returned directly to his actual location... probably somewhere in the southeastern Land of Wind.
But just as Jiraiya was about to attack the Great Salamander King again...

Clearly, after space had "bounced" Hanzō back, he had immediately used the Summoning Technique to summon the Great Salamander King away-not to fight, but to let him retreat.

Many more giant salamanders vanished from the battlefield, one after another.
Presumably, after returning, Hanzō had immediately ordered the Rain Ninja under his command to summon away every giant salamander they could. With that, the remaining battered stragglers were even less of a match for the snakes, who soon divided them up and devoured them.
Although Hanzō had known full well that this would happen... the strength Akaseki and the snakes had displayed left him no choice but to retreat and preserve his surviving forces.
Had Hanzō actually been here, he might have had the resolve to keep fighting. But he was not here himself; he had only appeared temporarily through the Great Salamander King's Reverse Summoning Technique. That made a prolonged battle impossible!
