Background

Akaseki was born to Xia and Hou Xuan, fringe members of the Uchiha Clan who died during the clan's civil conflict. Orphaned before he could remember them, he grew up with less standing than prominent Uchiha families, though still more security than an ordinary orphan. 1 225

At the Ninja Academy, Akaseki cultivated ties with Mikoto because her father was a clan elder and used his clan status to discourage boys from harassing Kushina Uzumaki. His early conduct was strongly shaped by Uchiha status-consciousness and pride. 1 4

Following graduation, he joined Jiraiya's genin team alongside Minato Namikaze and Ranwu. His Sharingan awakened at the graduation ceremony, drawing the attention of Clan Head Jiancheng and Elder Lanyu, who began personally investigating his unusual experiences and ocular potential. 4 6 8

Personality

Akaseki is intensely proud of being an Uchiha. Early on, he openly treated the clan crest as proof of superiority over commoners and regarded other clans through the lens of Uchiha prestige. He was especially suspicious of Ranwu after learning she was Tobirama Senju's granddaughter, despite professing admiration for the Second Hokage. 4 5

He is competitive, boastful, and eager to prove that he is the strongest member of his team. His confidence rose sharply after awakening the Sharingan, and he often frames clan accomplishments as personal validation. 10 25 124

Despite this arrogance, Akaseki is capable of practical restraint and empathy. He paid for his team's graduation celebration, aided the dying Tanuki despite having little to offer, offered to help Hizashi Hyuga with the Caged Bird mark, and visited Zhenpan's family after Zhenpan's death. 6 45 129 219

He is a resourceful combatant who values plans, deception, and favorable conditions over direct confrontation. He repeatedly uses clones, disguises, traps, and misdirection, though impatience and overconfidence can still lead him into danger. 108 141 216

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan

Akaseki's Sharingan is his defining ability. His left eye favors ninjutsu analysis and copying, while his right eye favors genjutsu; this split specialization is considered rare. 8

  • Can copy ordinary ninjutsu through observation, including high-rank techniques once his dojutsu develops sufficiently. 17 155
  • Uses enhanced motion perception to read attacks, analyze thrown weapons, and support Uchiha Style Taijutsu. 33 217
  • Can memorize combination ninjutsu, though replication is slower and more difficult than copying conventional techniques. 49
  • His genjutsu can pressure, deceive, and interrogate opponents, but techniques such as the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique can effectively counter his visual advantages. 50 73
  • Copying taijutsu movements alone is insufficient; physical sequences still require repeated practice before they are usable in combat. 10
  • Excessive copying exhausts his ocular power, though his recovery rate is exceptionally high. 17 223

Chakra Natures and Transformations

Akaseki possesses Fire and Earth chakra natures, later demonstrates Lightning and Wind Release aptitude, and is eventually recognized as an all-attribute chakra user with Yin and Yang potential. 8 155 221

  • Uses emotional stimulation during Immersion while the Sharingan is active to cultivate chakra transformations. 19 20
  • His Fire Release chakra developed measurable variations: Swift Flame, Scorching Heat, Incineration, and Overspread Burning. 20
  • Reached 10% overall Fire Style transformation progress, improving the efficiency, scale, and controllability of his Fire Release. 29 106
  • Awakened Yang Style through benevolence and Yin Style through righteousness; both require unusually intense and pure emotional triggers. 198 224
  • Developed Earth Style's “tremor polarity,” giving defensive earth techniques a vibration-like, force-dissipating quality. 134

Fire, Earth, Lightning, Wind, and Water Release

Akaseki has amassed a broad elemental arsenal through Uchiha inheritance, copying, instruction, and personal development.

  • Copied C-rank Fire and Lightning Release techniques, genjutsu, and taijutsu sequences from Fugaku shortly after awakening his Sharingan. 10
  • Copied Earth Release techniques from Yashiro and later completed the clan's Three-Tomoe Earth Style inheritance. 25 230
  • Copied practical Wind Release techniques from Orochimaru, including the A-rank Airflow Wild Dance and Wind Blade. 155
  • Learned Water Release from the imprisoned Setsuna Uchiha and completed the Uchiha Clan's Water Style collection. 225 230
  • Uses the Great Dragon Fire Technique as one of his strongest Fire Release attacks, including a three-dragon variation. 106 188

Combination Ninjutsu

Akaseki actively studies fused techniques rather than relying solely on copied jutsu.

  • Roasting Hell Technique — combines the Great Fireball Technique with Earth Prison Dome of Nothingness, trapping targets in earth and burning them from outside. 49
  • Phoenix Gentian Linked Flowers — combines Phoenix Flower Claw Crimson with the Lightning Sphere Technique and shuriken. 112
  • Roar of the Thunderfire Dragon — a combination technique used with Mirror Clones against Yakushi Nonō. 144
  • Lightning Fang Severing Wave — targeted Kakuzu's chakra cores and temporarily incapacitated him. 235

Clone Techniques

Akaseki employs several clone techniques for training, recovery, battlefield control, and deception.

  • Mastered the Fire Style Shadow Clone Technique and an Yin-leaning Shadow Clone through personal cultivation and Immersion training. 127
  • Completed Mirror Clone training in ten days under Elder Mirror. 129
  • Uses Mirror Clones to divide opponents, create numerical advantages, and maintain pressure while his original body recovers chakra. 140 141
  • Mirror Clones cannot recover chakra independently; sustaining six clones at peak condition is approximately his practical limit. 178
  • Uses ordinary Shadow Clones with Transformation Technique to disguise his true tactics and mislead opponents. 141

Air Release

Akaseki created and awakened a new chakra-type Kekkei Genkai by combining Wind and Lightning Release.

  • Air Release: Air Burst Technique — an A-rank technique that creates explosive pressure through a Wind-Lightning fusion. 164 167
  • Wind Release: Wind Pressure Technique — a self-invented C-rank technique that uses a fan swing to generate powerful wind pressure; Konoha later promoted it among Wind Release shinobi. 167 194
  • He cannot independently convert Air Release chakra reliably, so he trained through repeated clone use of the Air Burst Technique. 175

Sealing Techniques and Forbidden Techniques

Akaseki began as a novice in sealing but rapidly expanded his knowledge through Kushina, Kumogakure's research institute, Sacred Spire analysis, and Uchiha instruction. 185 188 222

  • Izanagi — an Uchiha forbidden technique that converts unfavorable reality into illusion, at the cost of an eye. 221 222
  • Izanami — a second forbidden Uchiha dojutsu taught alongside Izanagi, likewise carrying severe consequences for its user. 221
  • Awakening Seal — a personal sealing technique that stores a Sharingan dojutsu and automatically activates it upon his death. 224
  • Uses basic seals including the Silence Seal and Binding Foot Seal in emergency medical situations. 212
  • Can summon Rashomon, which later repaired the seal on the Gate of the Great God and severed Jashin's connection to Dan Katō's spirit. 234 240

Summoning Contracts

Akaseki can form contracts with multiple ninja beasts, an uncommon capability. 56

  • Tanuki Treasure — an Uzumaki ninja beast Akaseki nursed back to health using Big Red Bite. It can remove Uzumaki masks after feeding, provide sealing support, and transform into a giant bird of prey. 45 50 56
  • Vermilion Bird Tanuki Treasure — Tanuki Treasure's aerial form, used to escape the Hidden Mist and carry Akaseki's team. 73
  • Hell Yama King — an invisible ninja beast associated with Avici Hell; it can provide interrogation, healing support, invisibility, shared vision, and perception of spirit bodies. 205 234

Immersion Platform

Akaseki possesses a concealed system-like ability that places him into immersive dramas and game trials.

  • Immersion can compress roughly 120 hours of subjective experience into one hour of real time. 11 20
  • Emotional stimulation from dramas strengthens his dojutsu power and chakra transformations when he activates the Sharingan. 19 20
  • Game trials let him analyze techniques, experiment with combination ninjutsu, and unlock functions such as sealing-technique analysis. 49 188
  • The platform's rewards include recovery devices, training aids, and the Prosperity Realm Physical Examination Device, which measures his chakra changes. 11 20
  • Long or unusually realistic immersions can destabilize his sense of self, forcing him to consciously deconstruct borrowed memories and emotions. 198 254 257

Equipment

  • Imitation Uchiha Gunbai — ceremonial-style war fan granted by Jiancheng after Akaseki completed Mirror Clone training. 129
    • Bears the Ame-no-Hoko mark granted by the Sage of Six Paths' chakra remnant. 241
    • Its hardness responds to Akaseki's will and can recover after breaking as his resolve recovers. 244
  • Custom ninja tool set — commissioned from the Cat Ninja Tool Shop using mission earnings and a Uchiha Clan subsidy. 30
  • Long-handled sickle and chain — used in taijutsu sparring alongside his gunbai. 208

Relationships

  • Jiraiya — Jonin instructor. Jiraiya mentors Akaseki in chakra theory and warns him against becoming dependent on the Sharingan. 4 18
  • Minato Namikaze — Teammate and frequent tactical partner. Minato shared food with Akaseki during a test, and the two later coordinated against enemies including Kakuzu and Sunagakure puppeteers. 16 216 235
  • Ranwu — Teammate, sparring partner, and rival. Their early friction stems from Akaseki's clan prejudice, but they repeatedly train and fight together; Ranwu rescued him when he nearly drowned. 4 50 85
  • Fugaku Uchiha — Early mentor who taught Akaseki copying discipline, chakra control, Uchiha Fire Style principles, and taijutsu. 9 10 19
  • Jiancheng Uchiha — Uchiha Clan Head who supports Akaseki's development, teaches him clan secrets, and views him as vital to preserving the clan's ninjutsu inheritance. 8 221
  • Might Duy — Hired sparring partner and taijutsu specialist. Akaseki values Duy's fundamentals, provides recovery medicine, and later continues weapon-focused sparring with him. 78 79 208
  • Orochimaru — Instructor and mission captain. Orochimaru taught Akaseki Wind Release principles, helped assess Air Release, and led him during the Kumogakure infiltration. 155 167 181
  • Tanuki Treasure — Ninja beast companion saved by Akaseki. It depends on his help to remove its masks and later serves as transport, sealing support, and a summon. 45 53 56
  • Kushina Uzumaki — Academy acquaintance and later sealing instructor. Akaseki learned basic sealing techniques through visits with Kushina and Minato. 1 222

Story Role / Major Arcs

Genin and Uchiha Training

After awakening the Sharingan at graduation, Akaseki becomes a student of Jiraiya while receiving Uchiha instruction from Jiancheng, Lanyu, Fugaku, and Yashiro. His early arc centers on overcoming the limitations of copying, developing Fire Style, and becoming recognized within the clan. 6 8 10 18 29

Chūnin Exams and Arena Matches

Akaseki participates in the Chūnin Exams, where his strategic approach often contrasts with Minato's long-term calculations. In the arena, he relies on Mirror Clones, traps, recovery tactics, and combination ninjutsu before ultimately finishing as one of the runners-up. 98 140 141 144 146

Kumogakure Infiltration

Under Orochimaru's command, Akaseki disguises himself as Genta and infiltrates Kumogakure's Sealing Research Institute. He memorizes sealing techniques, learns about the Iron Armor Seal, and attempts to assassinate Killer B to prevent his selection as the Eight-Tails' jinchūriki. 181 185 188 190

Rashomon Trial and Jashin Conflict

Akaseki endures the Rashomon Trial's gates, confronting desire, sin, silence, and balance before gaining Hell Yama King as a companion. During the Yugakure operation, he helps repair the Gate of the Great God with Rashomon, cutting Jashin off from Dan Katō's spirit. 198 200 205 234 240

Sage of Six Paths' Reward

After repairing the seal, Akaseki meets a lingering chakra remnant of the Sage of Six Paths. He receives an enhancement to his Uchiha bloodline and the Ame-no-Hoko mark on his imitation gunbai, accelerating the growth of his dojutsu power. 241 244

Sunagakure Captivity

While serving at a wartime outpost, Akaseki is captured by Sunagakure. His captors place the Five Aggregates Seal on him and attempt to probe his memories, only for an intrusive mental technique user to be overwhelmed by Akaseki's Immersion experiences. While imprisoned, he encounters Bunpuku, Shukaku's companion. 253 257 255
