Gu Fengchen ends the crisis at Desert City, spends time with Xiao Yi Xian and Lin Fei, and travels through the desert while refining his powers. He encounters Xiao Ding and Xiao Li’s mercenary squad and returns toward Shimo City with them, as the brothers’ uncertain future comes into view.

• Gu Fengchen defeated and killed Nan She, ending the threat to Desert City, then took Yaoye above Jia Ma Holy City, where she asked him to seek her grandfather’s permission for their marriage.
• Gu Fengchen returned to the Tagor Desert, reflected on the Soul Hall’s possible threat, and planned to find Qing Lin and take her as his disciple.
• Gu Fengchen comforted Lin Fei as she struggled with comparisons to Xue Mei, and they spent the evening drinking and talking together.
• Gu Fengchen tested combinations of his Dou Qi in the desert, then came upon a battle where human mercenaries were defeating Snake People.
• A fleeing Snake Person leader charged at Gu Fengchen, who cut it in two with the Red Plum Sword, shocking Xiao Ding, Xiao Li, and their mercenaries.
• Xiao Ding invited Gu Fengchen to travel with the Desert Iron Mercenary Squad to Shimo City, and Xiao Li paid him for the leader’s head.
• As the squad traveled, Xiao Ding warned Xiao Li about Moxing and the Sand Mercenary Group, while Xu Zhong recalled Xiao Zhan’s plans for his sons and regretted arriving too late to alter their fate.

Gu Fengchen reached Shimo City, found Qing Lin, and helped the Desert Iron Mercenary Group gain control over the Sand Mercenary Group. He located the Green Lotus Core Flame underground, but returned to prepare before confronting it after the Taotie Seal reacted.

• Gu Fengchen arrived in Shimo City with Xiao Ding and Xiao Li, gave them pills from Xiao Yan, and hired the Desert Iron Mercenary Group to search for a treasure entrance.
• Xue Lan found Qing Lin being rejected and mistreated because of her Snake People blood, and Gu Fengchen recognized her as the girl with the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils.
• Gu Fengchen accepted Qing Lin as his companion, comforted her, and promised she could stay by his side.
• When Sand Mercenary Group members harassed Xue Lan, Gu Fengchen killed their Third Leader, defeated Luo Bu, and persuaded Luo Bu to join the Desert Iron Mercenary Group.
• Gu Fengchen sent the mercenaries to search for the Green Lotus Core Flame, and they found a passage that he explored using his Soul Power.
• Gu Fengchen repeatedly exhausted and recovered his Soul Power while searching underground, strengthening it before locating the area with the densest Fire Attribute energy.
• Gu Fengchen sensed the Green Lotus Core Flame resisting his Soul Power, and the Taotie Seal reacted as Taotie appeared in his mind wanting to devour it.

Gu Fengchen negotiated with Queen Medusa to help her advance to Dou Zong in exchange for the Green Lotus Core Flame. After she succeeded and gave him the flame, Gu Fengchen endured a dangerous absorption and gained control of it.

• Gu Fengchen found the Green Lotus Core Flame beneath the magma, advanced to Four-Star Dou Emperor, and subdued the Two-Headed Fire Spirit Snake to lead him to it.
• Queen Medusa confronted Gu Fengchen, but he demonstrated his Golden Emperor Sky Burning Flame and offered to help her advance safely in exchange for the Green Lotus Core Flame.
• Gu Fengchen revealed knowledge of the Snake People Tribe’s ancestry and claimed his sect had a method to help Queen Medusa evolve, persuading her to trust him.
• Hai Bodong returned to the Mittel Family, and he, Mitel Tengshan, Jia Xingtian, and Nalan Jie headed toward the powerful aura near the Tagor Desert.
• Gu Fengchen gave Queen Medusa a Sect Breaking Pill, and she began her advancement as Jia Xingtian, Mitel Tengshan, Hai Bodong, and Nalan Jie arrived nearby.
• Queen Medusa survived her evolution and advanced to Dou Zong, then thanked Gu Fengchen and willingly left him the Green Lotus Core Flame.
• Gu Fengchen harvested the Green Lotus Core Flame and its seeds, then began absorbing the flame while Queen Medusa guarded the cave entrance.
