Background
Takahashi enters Class D viewing himself as a genius among other geniuses. Initially detached from his classmates, he intends to coast through school while quietly assessing their personalities, weaknesses, and usefulness. He identifies Hirata as a potentially valuable “host” because of Hirata’s concern for classmates, while recognizing Karuizawa’s fear of bullying as a vulnerability. 1 2
He rapidly familiarizes himself with the school, mentally mapping its facilities and surveillance cameras. His observation of Class D’s behavior also leads him to infer that class points are tied to conduct before most of the class understands the system. 2 9
Chabashira later reveals that Takahashi entered the school without taking the entrance examination, describing him as a backdoor entrant. Despite this, he earns perfect quiz scores and is recognized as one of Class D’s strongest students academically. 12
Appearance
Takahashi is regarded as highly attractive by several classmates and is frequently compared favorably with Hirata. He is taller than Hirata, has defined facial features, long lower eyelashes, and notably fair skin. 18 44
- Considered one of the most handsome boys in Class D. 18
- Usually ranks among the class’s top three during physical activities. 44
- Draws attention from female students after protecting others on the island. 40
Personality
Takahashi is highly self-assured, observant, and entertained by complicated social dynamics. He often watches conflicts from the sidelines before deciding whether involvement would benefit him, and he can be evasive when others demand information he does not wish to share. 1 9 22
He combines a calm, playful manner with a manipulative streak. He records Kushida’s rooftop outburst to counter her threat, feeds Ryuuen false intelligence during the Intelligence Offensive and Defensive Battle, and treats Sakura’s dependence on him as an “obedience test.” 15 22 28
Despite this, Takahashi repeatedly protects people he cares about or considers worth helping. He intercepts Sudo’s punch aimed at Horikita, supports Sakura through her stalker problem, and defends Ayanokouji from accusations during the island exam. 14 25 44
He is also superstitious, using custom fortune slips and altering his behavior when he draws “Great Misfortune.” 9 20
