Background / History

In late August 1993, Qin Nansheng and the Old Principal of Magic Martial Academy delivered news of Su Mingjie's and Xiuyuan's deaths to their son, Su Yi. After the couple's death, Qin assumed responsibility for Su Yi's care. 2

Qin initially concealed the truth of Su Yi's parents' deaths, telling him only that they were away on a mission. When Su Yi begged to become a martial artist and learn the truth, Qin agreed to teach him, promising to explain everything once Su Yi reached Third Rank. 1

He supplied Su Yi with cultivation pills, advised him not to attempt dangerous breakthroughs without a Fourth-Rank guardian, and respected Su Yi's decision to continue living alone rather than move in with the Qin family. 2 He also purchased and arranged Su Yi's first C-Grade alloy sword and additional training resources. 6

Qin trained Su Yi in the fundamentals of Battle Arts, emphasizing adaptive swordsmanship, follow-up techniques, ruthlessness against opponents, and the importance of genuine combat experience. As Su Yi's strength rapidly exceeded his own, Qin remained proud rather than resentful. By the time Su Yi became a Third-Rank High Stage martial artist, Qin had reached Fifth-Rank Peak. 37 He later joined Li Changsheng in responding to Su Yi's battles in the Underground Cave, helping rescue Hope City martial artists and receiving resources from Su Yi to strengthen himself. 114

Qin's rise to external Mental Power release elevated his standing among Fifth Ranks, but he was still defeated by Li Changsheng in their full-force spar outside Hope City. 117 During Su Yi's Mental Manifestation, Qin was represented as a bold, heroic figure whose deeds were recorded in golden text. 131

Su Yi later extracted Qin's Life Origin in an effort to protect him from the fate awaiting him in the Underground Cave. 190 Despite this, Qin eventually died; Su Yi discovered the memorial tablet in the Qin family home and Aunt Qin mourning him. 223

Qin Nansheng is deeply protective of Su Yi and treats him as family. He worries about Su Yi's extreme cultivation methods, combat habits, and future in the Underground Cave, particularly because Su Yi is following the same path that claimed his parents. 13 90

He is a patient and practical teacher. Rather than simply praising talent, he identifies Su Yi's shortcomings—lack of ruthlessness, limited combat experience, and overly rigid technique—and offers direct methods for improvement. 2
