Relevant thoughts swiftly surfaced in Lu Li's mind.
But he quickly dismissed them himself.
It didn't seem likely.
Putting himself in her shoes, if he were plotting against a target, he would never disguise himself as someone familiar to them.
Nor would he reveal himself proactively and put them on guard.
He would only set up layers of encirclement, then wait until the target was about to force their way out before posing as a familiar companion who had been captured.
That way, at the crucial moment, he could throw the target off balance and land a successful sneak attack.
Yet Evelina's current behavior clearly showed that she knew nothing about the situation outside.
So these ambushers were actually here to capture Evelina!
Having sorted out his thoughts, Lu Li no longer hesitated. He sprang forward and charged straight at Evelina!
Sensing the movement behind her, the Succubus Lady turned to look. When she saw the fierce-looking demon who claimed not to be Lu Li chasing after her, she was scared out of her wits!
"H-He's chasing me!"
"What do I do? What should I do?!"
"Don't run!" Seeing the distance between Evelina and the wall formed by those mental tendrils rapidly shrinking, Lu Li quickened his pace while shouting after her.
But to the Succubus Lady, it looked entirely different.
"Don't run?"
"If I don't run, am I supposed to just stand here and let you kill me?!"
"Waaa... I should've been more careful. If I'd known, I would've verified the newcomer's identity before showing myself..."
One chased, while the other fled.
They drew ever closer to the ambushers.
