Background

Xu Xiao was a high-school student and class monitor when the apocalypse began. She awakened an enhancement-type Talent Ability and immediately tried to organize the surviving classmates into a team built on shared decision-making, fair resource distribution, and a promise not to abandon any teammate 3 7.

Her compassion repeatedly placed her at odds with harsher survivors. She refused to reveal information to the armed Chen Hao despite having a gun aimed at her, and later chose to search for Lu Li despite warnings that doing so could get her killed 10 11. In Lu Li's previous life, he had heard that Xu Xiao survived the early apocalypse, formed her own team, and later died in an insect swarm 3.

As conditions worsened, Xu Xiao became known in Central Shelter for helping civilians and defending vulnerable people, including Little Bao En when Wang Xuyan tried to take the child's food 501. Her tendency to shoulder responsibility also left her vulnerable to blame, manipulation, and emotional exhaustion.

Xu Xiao is consistently compassionate, self-sacrificing, and strongly opposed to treating people as disposable. She is willing to forgive those who harmed her even when doing so causes her intense pain, and she extends the same concern to slaves, civilians, former enemies, and wounded allies 1058 1316 1784.

Her kindness is sincere rather than performative. During her divine trial, Li Luo reads Xu Xiao's thoughts and confirms that, despite her hatred, Xu Xiao genuinely forgives those who wronged her 1058. This selflessness makes her an object of faith among the Palu, but also exposes her to exploitation by enemies who know she will endanger herself to save others 1744 1762.

Though gentle, she is not entirely naïve. Xu Xiao recognizes her shortcomings in direct combat and resolves to learn how to use her Authority more effectively after witnessing Matilda fight 1390. Major Arcs

Abyss Tower and Divine Trial

Li Luo recruits Xu Xiao for the Abyss Tower because of her [Amplify] Talent. Xu Xiao is made team commander despite her poor mental state, dies to the Toy Doctor's explosion, and is revived by Li Luo's shadow 996 1000 1005.

After becoming separated from the team, Xu Xiao encounters a dragon-masked figure that sends a white feather into her body. Her divinity later fills, drawing her into a divine trial where she relives the death of her father and the collapse of her family 1006 1015 1021.

Within the trial, a being identifying itself as both Xu Xiao and a “spectator beneath the stage” intervenes. Xu Xiao completes the trial by forgiving those she hates, accepting their sins and suffering through the white thorns of her Authority 1058.

Palu Liberation

Xu Xiao leads efforts to liberate the Palu Star Belt from slave owners. She rejects the idea of taking Talent Abilities from the Palu for strategic gain, arguing that doing so would repeat the same exploitation the Palu endured 1316.

The Palu increasingly place their faith in her. After the liberation of another farming planet, they hold a victory banquet in her honor and wait for her to take the first bite before eating themselves, demonstrating the reverence and responsibility attached to her position 1626.

Ascension and War of Godhood

When Matilda is fatally wounded, Xu Xiao tries and fails to save her with Tolerance. Matilda then voluntarily gives her Godhead to Xu Xiao, allowing Xu Xiao to enter the ascension state 1772 1773.

Xu Xiao uses [Life Bestowal] to evolve the Talents of Earth's defenders, but the cost in life force and her inability to communicate with allies leave her vulnerable to manipulation 1784 1785. She ultimately completes her ascension, while Lin Qinyue's transferred soul helps restrain the Sacred will awakening within her 1791 1792 1921.

Memory Loss

Xu Xiao sacrifices large portions of her memories to preserve Lin Qinyue's damaged soul-body and later continues to struggle with missing memories and uncertainty over her own identity 1874 1868.

The Myriad Realm Trader determines that Xu Xiao's memories were erased through higher-level commands, possibly by Xu Xiao herself using administrator privileges. A compressed memory backup remains in her operation logs, but recovering it requires a price 2073.
