Background / History
A Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear of roughly 6,000 years entered a canyon in the mixed zone of the Star Dou Great Forest, intending to prey upon a 4,000-year Golden Earth Dragon. Du Bùsǐ noted that its presence so far from the forest core was unexpected, as the species usually inhabits areas nearer the core. 31 32
The bear fought the Golden Earth Dragon despite the latter activating Dragon's Fury. Its superior cultivation age and sovereign-level combat power gradually overcame the dragon, but Du Bùsǐ secretly interfered with its killing blows, causing the bear to sustain severe injuries and become increasingly enraged. 32 33
After both soul beasts were left near death, Du Bùsǐ suppressed the bear with soul power. Ye Linyuan repeatedly slapped and taunted it to intensify its resentment, then killed it with Wind Thunder Flash Strike through the eye. 33
The plan succeeded beyond expectations: the bear produced a dark-gold External Right Palm Bone from its right paw. Ye Linyuan later fused the bone and gained the Dark Gold Terrorclaw ability. 33 34 35
Appearance
A massive, heavily built bear with dark-gold fur, faint green eyes, and enormous claws that radiate a fierce metallic presence. 31 34
- Each claw measured over two feet in length. 31
- Its terrorclaws were renowned as exceptionally destructive close-combat weapons. 32
- Its extracted right palm bone was palm-sized but unusually heavy, patterned, dark gold, and imbued with metallic aura and overbearing pressure. 34
Abilities & Skills
Terrorclaws
The species' defining weapon is a pair of near-indestructible claws, capable of inflicting extreme physical damage without requiring an amplification skill. 32
- Tears through the air with each swing and leaves deep claw marks even on the Golden Earth Dragon's scales. 32
- Makes the species one of the most coveted targets for close-combat soul masters. 32
- Its innate Dark Gold Terrorclaw skill was considered comparable in value to the Golden Earth Dragon's powerful amplification ability. 32
Strength and Metal Attributes
The Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear possesses power and metal attributes, supported by naturally formidable strength and defense. 32
- Does not rely on a separate power-amplifying soul skill because its base offensive and defensive capabilities are already exceptionally high. 32
- Few soul beasts of the same cultivation level can contend with it directly. 32
- A ten-thousand-year individual can reportedly rival an ordinary hundred-thousand-year soul beast in combat. 32
External Soul Bone
The bear's death produced an External Right Palm Bone, an exceptionally rare soul bone obtained from its right paw. 33 34
- Fusion grants five retractable dark-gold claws, each more than twice the original claw length and approximately one foot long. 35
- The manifested claws possess metallic luster and extreme cutting power. 35
- When Ye Linyuan combined the bone with Wind Thunder Flash Strike, he split a large boulder into five smooth layers; Du Bùsǐ judged the strike comparable to a four-ring power-attack Soul Ancestor's offense. 35
Relationships
- Golden Earth Dragon — Intended prey and combat opponent; their battle left both creatures critically injured. 32 33
- Ye Linyuan — Killed the bear after provoking it into intense resentment; later absorbed its External Right Palm Bone. 33 34
- Du Bùsǐ — Secretly obstructed the bear during its battle with the Golden Earth Dragon, then suppressed it so Ye Linyuan could execute the plan. 33
Story Role / Major Arcs
- Second Soul Ring Hunt — Appears unexpectedly while Ye Linyuan and Du Bùsǐ seek the Golden Earth Dragon for Ye Linyuan's second soul ring. 31
- Canyon Battle — Battles the Golden Earth Dragon, displaying the species' superior claws, strength, defense, and cultivation advantage. 32
- Artificial Resentment Plan — Is deliberately humiliated and killed so its resentment may increase the chance of producing a soul bone. 33
- External Soul Bone Fusion — Its External Right Palm Bone becomes Ye Linyuan's Dark Gold Terrorclaw, significantly improving his frontal offensive power. 34 35
Trivia
- The bear was unsuitable as Ye Linyuan's second soul ring target because its 6,000-year cultivation exceeded the risk level Du Bùsǐ considered safe, while the Golden Earth Dragon offered the desired amplification skill. 32
- Ye Linyuan's attempt to induce resentment was not guaranteed to produce a soul bone; he later regarded the successful result as largely a matter of luck. 34
