Background / History

Tang San is a reborn soul master who trained in the Tang Sect’s techniques from childhood. Jiang Chen, an orphan living with him, repeatedly challenged and defeated him while provoking his ambition to become stronger. Tang San’s refusal to accept defeat became the basis of his determination to surpass Jiang Chen. 1 2

At the martial soul awakening ceremony, Tang San awakened Blue Silver Grass and innate full soul power. His father, Tang Hao, subsequently revealed that Tang San possessed a second martial soul—the Clear Sky Hammer—and ordered him to keep it secret. Tang San immediately identified defeating Jiang Chen as his goal for becoming a soul master. 4

He later entered Shrek Academy, where he became part of the Shrek Seven Devils. His development was repeatedly shaped by dangerous soul-ring hunts, team battles, and his continued inability to close the gap with Jiang Chen. 51 89 92

Tang San initially believed his Blue Silver Grass to be an ordinary plant-type martial soul, but Jiang Chen guided it toward a vitality-oriented evolutionary path rather than a conventional control path. Following later medicinal refinement, the martial soul awakened its bloodline and evolved into the Blue Silver King. 18 101 181

Appearance

Following the completion of his Ice Fire Golden Body tempering, Tang San’s skin bears concealed golden-red patterns that surface when he circulates his power. During the process, his left pupil turned crimson and his right pupil gold before returning to normal. 158

  • Uses eight spider legs extending from his back when activating his External Soul Bone. 61 107
  • His evolved Blue Silver Grass is thicker and tougher than before, with faint purple light flowing through its veins. 8
  • His Blue Silver Grass can become dark red when using his second soul skill. 59
  • Following the Blue Silver King evolution, his martial soul became deep indigo, grew substantially thicker and longer, and developed pale-gold, rune-like patterns. 181
  • His Hundred-Eyed Earth Dragon Centipede soul bone can manifest dark-purple dragon-scale patterns over his right arm. 170

Personality

Tang San is intensely determined, resilient, and unwilling to accept defeat. Even after being repeatedly beaten by Jiang Chen, he treats his losses as motivation to cultivate harder rather than abandoning his goals. 1 2 43

He is also analytical in combat. Tang San prepares the battlefield, identifies weaknesses, and adjusts his tactics when direct force is insufficient. This is evident in his fights against the Bloodvine, Man Faced Demon Spider, Dai Mubai, Zhu Zhuqing, and the Imperial Fighting Team. 19 58 83 85 107

His confidence can become audacious when he recognizes an advantage. During the fight with the Imperial Fighting Team, he sought to take on three opponents alone after transforming with his spider abilities. 107

Tang San remains wary of environments that would expose his secrets or restrict his cultivation. He expressed no interest in joining Heaven Dou Royal Academy, citing its excessive rules, mixed company, and noble culture, while privately retaining the ambition to spread the Tang Sect’s glory in this world. 114

He can also show restraint in combat when personal consequences extend beyond the match itself. During his spar with Dugu Yan, he deliberately accepted her final attack and acknowledged her victory after their allotted time elapsed. 163
