Background / History

Dai Mubai first appears at Suotuo City's Rose Hotel, where he claims the last suite through intimidation and declares that strength is the city's rule. He reveals his Evil Eye White Tiger Martial Soul and attacks Jiang Chen, only to be defeated in a single exchange by Jiang Chen's physical strength. Despite his rage, he acknowledges the loss, pays for the room and damage, and vows to surpass Jiang Chen someday 22 23.

He is later revealed as a senior at Shrek Academy. The Rose Hotel defeat leaves his right arm fractured, and he becomes noticeably cautious around Jiang Chen and Tang San afterward 34 35. Although proud of his strength, Dai Mubai's dependence on direct, explosive attacks leaves him vulnerable to more adaptable opponents, particularly Tang San 71 83.

Dai Mubai is engaged to Zhu Zhuqing through the Star Luo royal family. Her growing strength and closeness with Jiang Chen intensify his jealousy and insecurity. After Zhu Zhuqing decisively defeats him, she breaks off their engagement, arguing that he lacks the strength and resolve to compete for the throne 68 70 171 172.

While operating for the cult, Dai Mubai abducts Oscar and deceives him into believing that a “Heart-Eating Mark” is causing him to lose control. He gives Oscar supposed cult hideout locations and warns of an attack on Shrek Academy, then later reveals to Ma Hongjun that the episode was staged to manipulate Shrek into acting 194 195.

Personality

Dai Mubai is initially arrogant, quick-tempered, and accustomed to using strength and status to get his way. His conduct at the Rose Hotel reflects both his entitlement and his belief that power determines who deserves respect 22 23.

He is not wholly incapable of accepting defeat: after Jiang Chen overwhelms him, he concedes, pays for the damages, and resolves to become stronger rather than immediately retaliating 23. However, his pride repeatedly turns into impatience and frustration when his direct combat style fails or when Zhu Zhuqing surpasses him 83 85 171.

Dai Mubai also shows a protective streak, intervening when noble students harass a commoner at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. His possessiveness toward Zhu Zhuqing, however, undermines that sense of loyalty and contributes to their eventual separation 115 172.
