These Two People Aren't Her Friends at All
Shanshan touched her neck. "Just now, I felt something blowing on my neck."
"It's probably a prop. I heard that some places install air conditioners that blow cold air onto tourists to create a scary atmosphere."
"I don't feel any air conditioning."
"It's probably one of those that can be remotely controlled."
Shanshan shivered, touching the goosebumps on her hands. She reassured herself that this was a haunted house, it was all a story, it was fake, and she shouldn't be afraid.
"Hurry, they're waiting for us up ahead."
The haunted house was very dark, with only a few dim lights on in a few places.
They saw a large group of people standing in front of them, who appeared to be tourists waiting for them.
So they quickened their pace and stepped forward, asking, "Has everyone finished collecting clues?"
Strangely, the group of people stood there motionless, not answering their questions.
The three of them slowed their pace. "Shanshan, something feels a little strange to me."
Why aren't they moving?
"Ahhh, even though I know it's fake, I'm so scared! It's so dark here, I can't see anything."
Upon entry, staff will confiscate visitors' mobile phones, so they do not have any lighting tools.
"To be fair, there's a reason this haunted house is so popular online; the set design and atmosphere are just amazing."
Even though they know everything here is fake, they still can't help but immerse themselves in the story and feel involuntarily afraid.
As they approached the group of people in front of them, they were horrified to discover that the group of people were not tourists at all, but clearly a group of mannequins!
These mannequins are exquisitely crafted, each one incredibly lifelike, with remarkably realistic bodies and clothing.
Especially their facial expressions—the terror, the despair, the lines of their skin, and the way their muscles moved—all conveyed a sense of inexplicable fear.
It's as if this group of people were once a group of living, breathing human beings, and some force turned them into what they are now.
Shanshan and her two friends were quite bold; her friends crowded around and commented on the mannequins.
"The craftsmanship of these mannequins is simply amazing. The cost of making these mannequins alone must have been high!"
"With this level of craftsmanship and realism, a single dummy would probably cost tens of thousands."
"More than that."
I did a quick count, and there are more than twenty dummies here. If each one costs at least tens of thousands to make, these dummies alone will cost more than two hundred thousand.
They couldn't help but exclaim, "Haunted houses really spend a lot of money!"
"They deserve to be famous."
"Just because of his dedication, I've decided to play through all of these playthroughs."
Shanshan looked at the mannequins and felt increasingly uncomfortable. The mannequins' skin was too realistic; the texture and even the patterns on their skin were very close to real skin.
If these mannequins weren't cold, breathless, heartless, and motionless, she would have thought they were all played by staff members.
For example, when they thought these were all mannequins, they suddenly came to life and startled them.
Shanshan touched her arm; ever since then, she had felt a cold wind constantly blowing against her.
If she hadn't been wearing a sweater, she probably would have caught a cold by now. "Let's hurry up, everyone else is getting impatient."
"Okay, Shanshan, it's a pity we don't have our phones with us, so we can't take pictures of such a good mannequin."
Shanshan pulled her friend away, and as she turned back, out of the corner of her eye, she seemed to see the mannequins move slightly.
Am I seeing things wrong?
Shanshan and her group soon encountered another group of people.
"Aaaaaah, run!"
A couple, hand in hand, are being chased by a pale-faced "ghost" dressed in terrifying costume.
Shanshan and the others were terrified and turned to flee.
"Hahahaha!" This ghost once made an appearance at the entrance of the haunted house.
It was dressed in the clothes of a foreign nobleman, but the clothes were splattered with black blood. The hood on its head looked particularly ferocious in the darkness, especially the stitches on its face, which looked as if its head had been cut into pieces and then sewn back together.
It was also holding a terrifying-looking chainsaw, which it kept waving around.
This staff member clearly had excellent work ethic, running while making terrifying screams.
Shanshan and the others felt their scalps tingle and, without even having time to think, screamed and ran away.
Fortunately, its target seemed to be the couple, and it kept chasing them until it disappeared from their sight at a fork in the road.
Shanshan and the others stopped, touching their rapidly beating hearts. "Thank goodness, he didn't chase after us."
"Even though I knew he was a staff member, it was still scary."
"How did that couple manage to attract a ghost?"
"It probably triggered some kind of fatal rule."
"Thank goodness they didn't catch up."
"Huh, where am I?"
"We're not going to end up back in the hallway we just left in, are we?"
After a chase, the three of them, clearly not paying attention to where they were going, frantically rushed into the corridor.
This corridor was also filled with mirrors.
It looked very much like the corridor they had entered from at the beginning.
"It should be that corridor. Should we go back?"
The footsteps of the "ghost" and the screams of the couple were gone; they wouldn't encounter the "ghost" if they went out now.
"Let's go, let's go."
Shanshan looked at the mirrors.
Her reflection appeared in the mirror.
A voice, faint and indistinct, reached the depths of her heart, "Who is your best friend?"
You only have one friend.
Shanshan's eyes became somewhat confused. The person in the mirror seemed to have become someone who looked very similar to her, but was completely different.
It lay in the mirror, staring greedily at Shanshan: "Lilith, you only have me as your friend."
Shanshan seemed startled and abruptly took a few steps back.
Her friend noticed something was wrong and quickly came over to pull her away, asking, "Shanshan, what's wrong?"
"Your complexion looks a little off."
What did you see?
Shanshan originally wanted to share her discovery, but just as she was about to speak, she keenly noticed that her two friends had strange expressions on their faces.
What's strange about it?
It was like a heartless monster, wearing human skin, pulling at the muscles in its face to make a concerned expression, but there was no worry in its eyes, instead it looked extremely empty and eerie.
Shanshan felt a chill run down her spine.
She felt that the two people standing in front of her were not her friends at all.
