Background / History

Ba Lin first approaches Wu Sheng after hearing that he forcefully controlled two Lava Giants with Soul Illusion. As an auction host and Imperial Clan member of the Ba Lion Family, Ba Lin offers Wu Sheng High-Grade Soul Crystals, future rewards, and an oath-bound contract in exchange for help exploring a dangerous ruin. 105

He defends the decision to recruit Wu Sheng before skeptical relatives, arguing that Wu Sheng's will provides an extraordinary amplification to soul techniques and may let him challenge enemies far stronger than his cultivation level would suggest. 106 When Ba Ke arranges a spar to test Wu Sheng, Ba Lin privately encourages Wu Sheng to demonstrate his strength. 107

During the ruin expeditions, Ba Lin directs scouting formations and supplies intelligence on the local Soul Beasts. His leadership is not entirely altruistic: he later admits that he deliberately pushed Ye Sheng's group into a Yuanmagnetic Beast nest to keep the location of Ultimate Soul Crystals hidden. 113 121 After Wu Sheng helps the group escape the Weeping Tower Family, Ba Lin honors the promised compensation and later accompanies Wu Sheng back to recover three Ultimate Soul Crystals. 121 124 126

Ba Lin's position deteriorates as the Ba Lion Family fractures around Captain Bastor. Bastor allies with Ta Moka and arranges to eliminate Ba Lin using a bloodline-evolution agent made from Ba Lin's original soul and body, preventing resurrection if he dies.
