Background / History
A century before enrolling in Hogwarts as a first-year in 1991, Glenn attended the school as a fifth-year transfer student after being identified as a wielder of ancient magic. He became the last guardian of that magic and was involved in confronting the aftermath of Isidora Morganach's abuse of it, including the Fourth Goblin Rebellion. 2 7 28
Glenn later traveled internationally from the nineteenth into the twentieth century, pursuing dark wizards and dangerous magical creatures. Before leaving, he personally had the Ministry of Magic erase records concerning himself and ancient magic. 2 47
After apparently dying, Glenn returned one year later and assumed the identity of an eleven-year-old orphan, using his genuine decade-long experience in a Muggle orphanage as cover. He concealed part of his past memories from the Sorting Hat and later recognized Dumbledore's attempt to use Legilimency on him. 2 13 42 43
He chose Slytherin during Sorting out of nostalgia for his earlier time in the house, particularly his friendships with Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt. 13 14
Appearance
Glenn is described as handsome, with an unusually noble bearing that makes his claimed half-blood orphan background seem implausible to Blaise Zabini. 14
- Gray eyes 26
- Usually carries his wand concealed in his sleeve 13
- Possesses a mature portrait of himself, depicting him at approximately fifth-year age 39
Personality
Glenn is calm, observant, and exceptionally self-assured. He tends to approach danger analytically rather than emotionally, whether assessing Quirrell's dark-wizard fragment, identifying Harry's Blood Protection Charm, or confronting a troll. 2 28 29
He rejects blood-status prejudice and associates easily with students of every house. His help toward Neville, Hermione, Harry, Blaise, Anthony Goldstein, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and Ernie Macmillan earns him a reputation beyond Slytherin. 3 19 23 25 26
His humor can be unsettling or deliberately provocative. Glenn frequently frames rule-breaking, combat, and dangerous plans with casual understatement, while generally preferring efficient solutions over needless cruelty. 12 22 40 49
Abilities & Skills
Ancient Magic
Glenn is the last known guardian of ancient magic. He uses modified spells and possesses knowledge largely absent from modern magical records. 2 15 28
- Identified Harry Potter's scar as a Blood Protection Charm, an ancient magic capable of repelling Avada Kedavra. 2
- Modified a spell with ancient magic to punish Peeves, causing the poltergeist to avoid Hogwarts' halls for months. 15
- Concealed portions of his past from the Sorting Hat and resisted Dumbledore's Legilimency through pre-existing mental safeguards. 13 43
- Ancient magic normally requires a wizard to reach roughly fifth-year age before their body can withstand it. 28
Revelio
Glenn silently casts Revelio to perceive magical properties through color-coded visual cues. 2 4
- Ordinary wizards appear bright blue; dark wizards or their fragments appear red. 2
- Detects powerful magical traces, including Harry's golden scar and compatible wand boxes. 2 4
- Used it to track the Golden Snitch during the Gryffindor–Slytherin match. 36
- Cannot indiscriminately target dark-wizard fragments when ordinary wizards are nearby. 2
Spellcasting and Combat
Glenn learns spells extremely quickly and demonstrates advanced control for a first-year. Hermione notes that he can replicate a spell after seeing it performed once. 9
- Used Petrificus Totalus to immobilize Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle during their confrontation on the Hogwarts Express. 9 11
- Prepared a triggered Depulso charm that safely threw a person away upon impact with a vehicle. 5
- Subdued a troll using Lumos, Wingardium Leviosa, and Descendo, then demonstrated his method to the professors. 28 30
- Perceives imminent danger instinctively, manifested as a red circular warning before the troll's club struck. 28
- Knows lethal and highly dangerous magic, including Avada Kedavra and an “Avada Kedavra Lightning Chain,” but does not use them casually around bystanders. 2 49
Potions
Glenn is an exceptionally talented potion-maker whom Snape explicitly compares to his younger self. 35 50
- Brewed an Invigoration Draught in fifteen minutes, half the textbook's stated time, without sacrificing potency. 35
- Produced multiple Invigoration Draughts from White Fresh leaves for emergency use. 35
- Successfully brewed an Invisibility Potion and continued making additional batches with Snape's leftover ingredients. 50
- Recognized Snape's Occlumency seals and declined to probe his memories with Legilimency. 50
Herbology and Magical Creatures
Glenn has extensive prior experience with magical plants and creatures. 16 18 26
- Earned Slytherin ten points by accurately summarizing White Fresh traits and uses in his first Herbology lesson. 16
- Cultivated White Fresh, eventually obtaining eight seeds and using the Room of Requirement to grow its fruits. 23 39 40
- Planned to cultivate Chinese Biting Cabbage but began with the safer White Fresh to gain Professor Sprout's trust. 16
- Helped save the last surviving newly hatched Golden Snidgets from poachers a century earlier. 18
- Studies dangerous plants and creatures beyond the ordinary first-year curriculum. 26
Legilimency and Occlumency
Glenn understands both mind-reading and mental defense. 43 50
- Detected Dumbledore's use of Legilimency during their conversation. 43
- Uses mental concealment sufficient to hide sealed memories from both Dumbledore and the Sorting Hat. 13 43
- Avoided using Legilimency against Snape after identifying the risk posed by his Occlumency seals. 50
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Summer Oak wand — Thirteen inches, dragon-heartstring core, firm yet flexible; selected through Glenn's intuition and Revelio. 4
- Enlarged money pouch — Enchanted by Glenn's older self with the Undetectable Extension Charm; stores numerous potion bottles and other items without changing its size or weight. 35
- White Fresh plants and seeds — Cultivated for Herbology work and potion ingredients. 16 23 39
- Self-portrait — A magical portrait painted by Ominis Gaunt a century earlier; its painted Glenn can act independently and confront Sir Cadogan. 39 47
- Invigoration Draughts — Personally brewed emergency supplies. 35
- Invisibility Potions — Successfully brewed under Snape's instruction. 50

- Harry Potter — Friend and fellow first-year. Glenn helped Harry at King's Cross, supports him despite house rivalry, and gave him an Invigoration Potion at Christmas. 4 33 44
- Ron Weasley — Friend met aboard the Hogwarts Express; Glenn included him in shared food and treats. 6 7
- Hermione Granger — Study partner and friend. Hermione is intrigued by Glenn's spellcasting ability, while the two regularly work together in the library. 9 23 50
- Neville Longbottom — Glenn helps and encourages Neville, though his broom-riding advice disastrously sends Neville skyward. 18 19
- Draco Malfoy — Initially clashes with Glenn over blood status and bullying; later confides in him about Quidditch ambitions and defers to him on several occasions. 3 9 18 36
- Blaise Zabini — Slytherin friend who first approached Glenn over his background and later asked to stay with him over Christmas. 14 16 23
- Sebastian Sallow — Glenn's former Slytherin friend from a century earlier. Sebastian helped him adjust to Hogwarts, introduced him to the Duelling Club, and taught him spells outside the curriculum. 14
- Ominis Gaunt — Former Slytherin friend who opposed his dark-wizard family; he painted Glenn's magical portrait. 14 47
- Severus Snape — Potions professor who privately tutors Glenn, respects his talent, and warns him not to become close to Quirrell. 35 50
- Albus Dumbledore — Headmaster who questioned Glenn about his orphanage past and covertly used Legilimency during their conversation. 42 43
- Sir Cadogan — Portrait knight and recurring nuisance. Glenn repeatedly outsmarts him, while Glenn's portrait physically defeats him during their duels. 39 40 49
