Background / History
On November 1, 1981, Harry survived an attack by Voldemort as a newborn and stripped the Dark wizard of his power, forcing him to retreat. The event made him a celebrated figure across Britain, where wizards began calling him “The Boy Who Lived.” 1
Harry bears a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. Glen Howard identifies the mark as a Blood Protection Charm—an ancient magic capable of resisting and rebounding the Killing Curse. Harry himself remembers only a flash of green light from the attack. 2 6
By 1991, Harry has been raised by his aunt and uncle and knows little about his parents. He later seeks information about them from Hogwarts’ house-elves, learning that his father had been a prominent Gryffindor and that his mother excelled in Potions. 33 47
