Background / History

A dean of Shrek Academy once rallied sixty Title Douluo from across the continent to defeat the invading Sun Moon Empire. In the aftermath, the academy became a transcendent force independent of the three great empires, despite standing within Heaven Dou Empire territory 9.

For ten thousand years, Shrek developed into a continent-wide institution whose graduates entered military, political, commercial, noble, and city-lord positions. It maintained independent taxation and its own city defense force in Shrek City 83 92.

The First Generation Shrek Seven Monsters—Dai Mubai, Oscar, Tang San, Ma Hongjun, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing—were regarded as the academy's foundational heroes. Their achievements established Shrek's long prosperity, and statues of the seven stood at its entrance 38.

By the present era, Shrek's admission and retention standards had become severe. Applicants required at least a city-lord-level recommendation, while students—including exempted Tang Sect entrants—could be eliminated through freshman testing. Critics also alleged that teachers used arbitrary expulsions to preserve graduation rates and advance their own careers 15 37.

Major Incidents

Defacement of the Seven Monsters' Statues

Qin Chuan carved the words “Ten-Thousand-Year Blood Feud, Settled Today” above the academy and decapitated the stone statues of the First Generation Shrek Seven Monsters with a single sword strike. Shrek treated the event as an unprecedented humiliation and launched a continent-wide investigation 37 38 41.

Tournament Defeat and Losses

During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Competition, Shrek entered with a weakened main team after losing inner-court students during operations against Evil Soul Masters. The academy ultimately lost the championship to the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy, with three of its outstanding students killed in the Finals 49 64 71.

Conflict with Martial Soul Hall

Shrek identified Qin Chuan as a possible descendant of Bibi Dong and resolved to kill him during the tournament finals. The academy later sought an exchange program with the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy partly to lure Qin Chuan into Shrek, but Jing Hongchen refused to send him after learning that Shrek intended to use him as bait 64 71 76.

Bibi Dong later killed Mu En, Shrek's Sea God Pavilion Master, during a raid connected to Qin Chuan's campaign against the academy 74 83.

The Continental Youth Tournament

Shrek returned to high-level competition with Yan Shaozhe and Xian Lin'er personally escorting its team following the earlier tournament massacre. Tang Wutong's enrollment and identity as Tang San's daughter became Shrek's foremost source of hope against Martial Soul Hall 163 166.

In the finals against Martial Soul Hall, Bei Bei was killed by Tang San's Yama's Sticker. Xuan Zi suppressed referee Zheng Zhan to prevent intervention, escalating the conflict 200 202.

Destruction

A Beast Tide led by Di Tian assaulted Shrek City, demanding Tang Wutong and revenge for the Soul Beast clan. Shrek's students, faculty, Sea God Pavilion elders, and the Shrek City Defense Force joined the defense; its Soul Tool Shields and cannons initially held the attackers before the defenses were breached 208 213.

Shrek City fell after Soul Beast forces broke through all four gates. Civilians were evacuated into the academy, which became the final defensive line. The Golden Ancient Tree, described as the academy's foundation and the life core of the continent, was then severed by Qian Hanchuan using the Angel Holy Sword 220 221.

In the final battle, Xuan Zi—then a Level 99 Limit Douluo—fought Di Tian while Yan Shaozhe, Xian Lin'er, Cai Meier, Qian Duoduo, and the remaining elders resisted the Ferocious Beasts. Qian Duoduo self-detonated; Yan Shaozhe was beheaded; Xian Lin'er and Cai Meier were killed; and the last Inner Court students and city-defense soldiers died in battle 222 223.

Xuan Zi declared Shrek's end and detonated his soul core alongside the remaining elders. When Star Luo reinforcements arrived, Shrek City was in ruins and no survivors remained, including all members of Shrek Academy 223 224.
