Background / History
Tang San entered the Soul Hunting Forest with Yu Xiaogang, who gave him a belt containing the Sky-Covering Cloud Jade. The item can shield its wearer from divine observation and create illusions. Under Yu Xiaogang's guidance, Tang San acquired his first century-old soul ring from a Lone Bamboo. 11
His expected path toward awakening the Blue Silver Emperor was undermined when Qin Chuan and Bibi Dong killed the Blue Silver King. 12 At Notting Academy, Tang San defended the work-study students by challenging Xiao Chenyu. His improvised Blue Silver Pole Vault failed when Xiao Chenyu broke its bamboo pole, but Tang San still won by pinning his opponent to the ground. 13
Tang San later became central to Shrek Academy's tournament team. He reached level 38, received Immortal Herbs from Yu Xiaogang, and displayed a thousand-year fourth soul ring. 123 Qin Chuan later revealed that he had crippled Tang San and altered his soul skills; Tang San's rings were subsequently shown to have turned white. 108 155
Tang San repeatedly clashed with Qin Chuan over the value of Tang Sect hidden weapons against soul tools. His Sand-Shooting Shadow was sold at auction for 10,000 Gold Soul Coins, but the displayed soul tools convinced him that the Tang Sect faced a serious technological threat. 109 110 He challenged Qin Chuan and was defeated when his Godly Zhuge Crossbows and other hidden weapons could not penetrate Absolute Defense or withstand soul tool cannons. 111 The experience left him injured and determined to surpass soul tools. 112
During later conflicts, Tang San suffered further losses: Tang Hao's death caused him unexplained distress, Qin Chuan captured Xiao Wu, and Yu Xiaogang's betrayal shattered his trust in his teacher. 131 154 155 The destruction of the Clear Sky Sect also deeply affected him, as the sect is described as his root while the Tang Sect is his obsession. 215
Ten thousand years after the Battle of Jialing Pass, Martial Soul Hall used preserved blood to create living clones of Tang San and the other First Generation Shrek Seven Monsters. One such Tang San clone fights for Martial Soul Hall, while the identity and origin of the “real” Tang San remain a matter of speculation among Niu Tian and Titan. 171 190
Appearance
Tang San is depicted with long ocean-blue hair, a tall and slender build, and a composed demeanor in battle. 171
- His Blue Silver Emperor has distinct golden veins. 171
- He can manifest Eight Spider Lances from his back. 136
- During the period when Qin Chuan's interference is revealed, his soul rings are described as having turned white. 155
Personality
Tang San is intensely loyal to the Tang Sect, Shrek Academy, Xiao Wu, and the Clear Sky Sect. He treats the Tang Sect's revival as a personal mission and reacts with anger when soul tools threaten the relevance of its hidden weapons. 110 143 144 215
He is generally calm and focused in combat, but attacks on Xiao Wu or revelations about Tang Hao can push him into rage and desperation. 136 154 His respect for Yu Xiaogang is initially profound; Yu Xiaogang's eventual betrayal leaves him devastated. 11 155
