Background
Tang Chi was evaluated by the Holy Maiden Bibi Dong and Elder Ju at Notting City Martial Soul Hall when he was six years old. He introduced himself with unusual confidence, openly naming his Level 9 innate soul power and Thunderclap Hammer martial soul. When asked whether he belonged to the Clear Sky Sect due to his surname and hammer-type martial soul, he bluntly denied any connection. Bibi Dong recognized his talent and offered to recommend him to the Main Martial Soul Hall, where he could choose an elder as his master. 4
He later joined Bibi Dong and Su Yan’s training group, addressing Bibi Dong as “Instructor.” His first major test was Bibi Dong’s courage training: initially terrified by the pressure and spider legs used in the exercise, he nevertheless endured the process, cultivated overnight afterward, and reached Rank 10. 12 13
Bibi Dong identified the Thunderclap Hammer as a variant of the Clear Sky Hammer and guided Tang Chi toward a control-system path rather than a strength-focused one. He chose to emphasize paralysis, electrocution, battlefield interference, and traps. 14 In the Soul Hunting Forest, he killed and absorbed a 350-year Lightning Eel’s soul ring, gaining his first soul skill. 15
Four years later, Bibi Dong revealed to Tang Yuehua that Tang Chi was her nephew and the son of another of their childhood friends. Tang Chi addressed Tang Yuehua politely as his aunt. 71
Personality
Tang Chi is confident, outspoken, and eager to demonstrate his worth. He was proud of his exceptional innate soul power at his first evaluation and refused to entertain assumptions about a Clear Sky Sect connection. 4
Despite his confidence, he is afraid of pain and initially panics under extreme pressure. Bibi Dong’s training gradually improves his resolve; even after Xiao Wu’s Eight-Stage Throw shattered his bones, he steadied himself rather than losing control. 13 163
He is protective of his teammates and frequently acts as a battlefield support figure. When Qian Xunzi captured his partners in her purple gourd, his first concern was securing their release. 124 In combat, he favors indirect tactics, traps, and delaying actions over straightforward exchanges, openly recognizing that his direct fighting strength is limited as a control-system soul master. 139 140
Abilities & Skills
Thunderclap Hammer
Tang Chi’s martial soul is a lightning-attribute hammer and a variant of the Clear Sky Hammer. Unlike the conventional strength-oriented development of the Clear Sky Hammer, he uses it to paralyze, electrocute, restrict, and pressure opponents. 14 15
- Its lightning can numb opponents and disrupt their movement. 15 60
- The martial soul’s fragments can remain connected to his Soul Power, enabling trap-based techniques. 140 164
- He is disadvantaged in direct close-quarters combat against physically stronger opponents such as Sun Te. 161
- His hammer fragments can be neutralized if removed from their intended area or stripped of their Soul Power, as Tang San did with Blue Silver Grass. 164
First Soul Skill: Thunderquake Wave
Tang Chi obtained Thunderquake Wave from a 350-year Lightning Eel. He gathers lightning around the Thunderclap Hammer and strikes the ground, sending electricity outward through the surrounding area. 15
- Produces a wide-area lightning shockwave. 15 34
- Paralyzes targets struck by the current. 15 60
- Can be used to suppress groups of Soul Beasts or opponents, though its hold may be brief against stronger targets. 34
- Its indiscriminate spread can numb allies near the impact zone. 28
Second Soul Skill: Lightning Trap
Lightning Trap allows Tang Chi to establish hidden lightning-based restraints around the battlefield. Its placement makes opponents wary of moving through the affected area. 60 100
- Several bolts can erupt from beneath a target’s feet and inflict numbness. 60
- He can set traps while circling the Soul Battle Platform, restricting enemy movement without immediately revealing their locations. 100
- The technique is less effective against airborne opponents. 61
- Tang San countered the setup by using Blue Silver Grass to sweep Tang Chi’s hammer fragments beneath the platform. 164
Third Soul Skill: Three Thousand Thunder Movements
Tang Chi transforms into lightning to achieve sudden bursts of speed and rapid repositioning. 99 100
- Allows him to appear beside allies or behind opponents with little warning. 99
- He used it in conjunction with Zhu Zhuqing’s movement to reposition behind Sikong Tu. 99
- It serves as an escape option when stronger close-range fighters pressure him. 161
Thunderclap Strangle
Thunderclap Strangle is a variation of Lightning Trap that uses scattered Thunderclap Hammer fragments to form a lightning cage around a target. 140
- Tang Chi used his remaining Soul Power to make the fragments rise and connect through blue-white lightning. 140
- The cage concentrates its lightning above the trapped target. 140
- He previously failed to activate the technique during his battle with Xiao Wu. 163
- It requires him to leave fragments positioned across the battlefield and can exhaust his remaining Soul Power. 140
Relationships
- Bibi Dong — Instructor and mentor. She accepted Tang Chi into her training group, taught him soul-power cultivation, and advised him to develop the Thunderclap Hammer as a control-system martial soul. 12 14
- Su Yan — Teammate and close companion. Su Yan helped Tang Chi prepare for his first soul ring, and Tang Chi later came to Su Yan’s aid when he expected trouble at the academy. 15 17
- Tang Yuehua — Aunt. Bibi Dong revealed that Tang Chi is Tang Yuehua’s nephew. 71
- Zhu Zhuqing — Teammate. They trained and hunted alongside Su Yan during survival training, combining her mobility with his lightning control. 28 34

- Xue Ke — Teammate. Tang Chi protected and transported her wheelchair during dangerous situations. 30 34
- Tang San — Rival opponent. Tang San’s perception and Blue Silver Grass neutralized Tang Chi’s Lightning Trap fragments during the tournament. 164
- Xiao Wu — Opponent who defeated Tang Chi with Charm, Waist Bow, and Eight-Stage Throw. 160 163
- Qian Xunzi — Opponent who trapped Tang Chi inside her purple gourd through a spirit incantation. 124
- Aite — Opponent whom Tang Chi delayed with traps before using Thunderclap Strangle as a final counterattack. 139 140
