Background / History

Xu Fan transmigrated into a parallel world resembling his former Blue Star three years before the Outer Forbidden Zone opened. He received a Template System whose first character was Whitebeard from One Piece. Although 30% of Whitebeard’s power already made him superhuman, Xu Fan concealed it, believing it insufficient to protect his parents, friends, and family in a future global war. 1

He was unexpectedly selected as Yan Kingdom’s Forbidden Land contestant. Knowing that a contestant’s death would cost their country one million people, he entered the snowfield with almost no conventional supplies and initially chose to hide as many abilities as possible from the global livestream and rival nations. 3 6 13

After claiming resources through repeated victories and realizing Yan Kingdom would protect his family rather than fear his strength, Xu Fan abandoned his earlier restraint. He resolved to use his power openly when necessary and fight for Yan Kingdom’s resources. 52

Xu Fan is notably calm under pressure. Even after appearing alone in a freezing, unfamiliar snowfield, he immediately prioritized water, food, environmental threats, and the possible locations of future contestants rather than panicking. 3

He is cautious, analytical, and deliberately conceals information when it offers a tactical advantage. Early in the Forbidden Land, he feigned relief after intimidating a Snow Wolf and avoided exposing his strongest abilities because foreign nations could observe him while he knew little about the land’s creatures. 6 9

Despite possessing overwhelming strength, Xu Fan is not indiscriminately cruel. He buried a dead foreign contestant, fed and befriended Holo, protected civilians and allies, and later agreed to teach Ryan swordsmanship. 9 24 184 540 However, he firmly believes that aggression and betrayal deserve direct retaliation, as shown when he killed Sharman in self-defense after first sharing food and warmth with him. 48
